Online Business Systems - Who are they?

I found Online Business Systems (a system used by some Herbalife Distributors ) after quitting my job in March of 2003. I wanted to be home with my 3 kids. After many phone calls I was convinced that if I wanted to be successful I would have to invest to get to the supervisor position and invest in advertising. I so much believed this that I actually cashed in my 401K. I spend 48.95 on the 1st package, 399 on the second package and a little less that $1000 on a success builder package and buddied up with someone to get to supervisor. I only had $500 for advertising so I purchased call me leads and started to grow my business. Later on, my budget was as high as $2000.

I saw success. Yes I was making money but I was encouraged to re-invest because then my business would grow faster. So I took my profit and kept investing. I totally believed in OBS and thought it was the best thing for everyone. Looking back I realize that I was brain washed.

I was told that I could grow my business by working only 4 hours a day. I worked from about 8 in the morning until about 10 most days. We were encouraged to talk about income rather than profit. You see, by the time you pay for advertising, products, merchant account website... at my best I made about $2000 after my expenses so it was a constant struggle.

After 3 years in the business I saw my checks go down. No matter how hard I worked, no matter how much I invested I just couldn't duplicate myself. I thought I was the only one struggling. But I wasn't. Many others were struggling as well because you need a duplicatable system. OBS is not duplicatable because the average person can't keep investing that kind of money.

Finally in August of 2007 I had my light bulb moment. I lost 3 key players in a period of 1 week. I was upset and decided to find out what was going on.

I talked to those people and asked them to be honest with me and tell me why they were leaving. Long story short all three of them were over 10K in credit card debt because of this business. You see they kept investing in the dream. OBS encouraged us to invest up to $2500 a month in wheel slots. Here is a quote from my up line Pres. team "Go Big or Go Home". You see, we are not stupid people, we are people who wanted to make money from home and were told to not re-invent the wheel and do what the up-line recommended.

I then looked at my end of month statement and looked at all the people with zero's next to their name. Over the 4 1/2 years with Herbalife/OBS, I brought in well over 200 people. Out of those people I had 5 people who were actually doing anything and one of those people had just gone bankrupt and lost his home. Less than 3% were still there.

I had brought in so many people over the years who had hopes and dreams and wanted to make $500 a month and instead are now broke and lost thousands.

It was at that moment that I realized people were getting hurt. People ask me how could I be so blind. Again, We were brainwashed into believing that people who were not having success were not working hard enough or they didn't have a big enough why.

After leaving OBS I learned how to be a Critical thinker and get myself educated. So I started doing proper reasearch and learning as much as I could about MLM and prospecting.

Since leaving OBS, I have learned a lot.

A friend of mine named Bruce gave me an e-book called Success In 10 Steps. This e-book was the start of an incredible life changing experience. Thank you, Michael for writing this book and for caring about people like me.

I found an incredible group of people who only wanted to help me. They didn't have a hidden agenda nor did they try to recruit me. They simply offered free help. I am so thankful everyday that I was ready to receive.

I am now successful in a new business. I am building my business by building relationships with people.

Share my experience with others so they don't get hurt. As a coach and mentor, I am able to help people to become critical thinkers and learn how to research a company.
