Occupy Wall Street Hypocrisy

Occupy What?

According to Wikipedia, the "Occupy Wall Street (OWS)" Movement is on ongoing series of demonstrations beginning September 17, 2011 in New York's Zuccotti Park in the Wall Street financial district. The Canadian activist group "Adbusters" initiated the protests which has since become a worldwide movement. The protests have focused on social and economic inequality, high unemployment, greed, as well as corruption and the undue influence of corporations - particularly that of the financial services sector - on government. The protester's slogan, "We are the 99%" refers to the growing difference in wealth in the U.S. between the wealthiest 1% and the rest of the population.

For this lens I would like to show why I believe the Occupy Wall Street Movement is HYPOCRISY at it's finest. I am a wife, a mother of 2 children, I work full-time and have my own business on the side. I have never been on a government program or expect someone to pay me for nothing. Some of us are struggling but we still work our butts off for a better life. THAT is what it means to live in this country. The hope and the chance despite some of the difficulties. Anything worth anything does NOT come EASY! Life is not FAIR! Struggling is part of adulthood.

He works hard for us...

Occupy Wall Street

List of Demands

#1. Restoration of the living wage. This demand can only be met by ending "Freetrade" by re-imposing trade tariffs on all imported goods entering the American market to level the playing field for domestic family farming and domestic manufacturing as most nations that are dumping cheap products onto the American market have radical wage and environmental regulation advantages. Another policy that must be instituted is raise the minimum wage to twenty dollars an hour.

#2. Institute a universal single payer healthcare system. To do this all private insurers must be banned from the healthcare market as their only effect on the health of patients is to take money away from doctors, nurses and hospitals preventing them from doing their jobs and hand that money to wall st. investors.

#3. Guaranteed living wage income regardless of employment.

#4. Free college education.

#5. Begin a fast track process to bring the fossil fuel economy to an end while at the same bringing the alternative energy economy up to energy demand -

#6. One trillion dollars in infrastructure (Water, Sewer, Rail, Roads and Bridges and Electrical Grid) spending now.

#7. One trillion dollars in ecological restoration planting forests, reestablishing wetlands and the natural flow of river systems and decommissioning of all of America's nuclear power plants.

#8. Racial and gender equal rights amendment.

#9. Open borders migration. anyone can travel anywhere to work and live.

#10. American elections up to international standards of a paper ballot precinct counted and recounted in front of an independent and party observers system.

#11. Immediate across the board debt forgiveness for all. Debt forgiveness of sovereign debt, commercial loans, home mortgages, home equity loans, credit card debt, student loans and personal loans now! All debt must be stricken from the "Books." World Bank Loans to all Nations, Bank to Bank Debt and all Bonds and Margin Call Debt in the stock market including all Derivatives or Credit Default Swaps, all 65 trillion dollars of them must also be stricken from the "Books." And I don't mean debt that is in default, I mean all debt on the entire planet period.

#12. Outlaw all credit reporting agencies.

#13. Allow all workers to sign a ballot at any time during a union organizing campaign or at any time that represents their yeah or nay to having a union represent them in collective bargaining or to form a union.

MY COMMENTS: WHO IS GOING TO PAY FOR ALL OF THESE FREEBIES? Seriously, if you are buying into this, you don't understand how the system works. how about using all that free time you've got and the brain power you are wasting by coming up with real solutions instead of something that is inherently flawed and would only zap what little resources we have left, eh?

Occupiers are Livid

Jon Stewart

"The least-toileted generation."

Wait -- how could America's most trusted newsman do this to them?!

Jon Stewart has turned on the common man, and OWS will never forget it!

What has these miscreants so out-of-sorts? The hilarious segment below, which features Zuccotti Park interviews that highlight -- get THIS -- a growing class divide between the Occupiers in the more elevated portion of the park and those down below!

Yes, there is an Occupy ghetto. Watch the video:

You can't fix stupid....

Collection of opinions by Ed Doerksen

It amazes me how these people believe that socialism, better yet, fascism will make them financially equal to those who are in the so called 1% bracket. These people only want handouts and nothing more. They want government to wipe their asses from birth until death and then some. They really believe that if the rich are taxed that they will get part of that? That is nothing more than an idealistic form of communism that has never existed and will never exist.

It was laughable yet when some of those who were cooking for the occupationists were upset that homeless people were standing in line for food. These cooks refused to cook. Well isn't that the idea of this communistic protest that everyone get treated equally? Then why weren't the homeless people fed like the others? After all this is what equality is all about, that everyone get equal treatment and equal dividends despite their situation in life.

These people should reconsider their purpose. If they are that pissed at wall street or bay street wealth, than don't buy from the corporations. Go instead to the ma and pa corner store and spend your money there. Go buy food, produce, meat etc. from the farmer and the local butcher shop instead of the large corporations. After all isn't that the idea - starve the corporation and feed the local economy and store owner?

So far the occupationists don't have a clear mandate as to why they are protesting. They have no clear direction and have no inkling why they are doing what they are doing. Now that winter is setting in, it isn't fun anymore.

Students In Iran Support Occupy Wall Street Protests

By Sam Rolley

As the Occupy Wall Street (OWS) movement grows, it has gained support from some university students in Iran, according to an Iranian state-run media outlet.

The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported that a group of Iranian university students began gathering outside the Swiss Embassy in Tehran last Thursday to offer their opinion of the events taking place in the U.S.

The Iranians were protesting the violent actions of New York City police officers against Occupy Wall Street protestors, saying that their actions were contradictory of the "statement of the U.S. officials in support of human rights." The article also said that the Iranian students described the American protest as recognition by the American people that their government acts on behalf of a "Zionist lobby."

According to the IRNA, the Iranian demonstrators shouted slogans such as: "There is no more use for artillery, tank and Liberals" (sic), "Down with the U.S., Down with Israel", "Liberal Democracy is finished" and "Confronting Islam is the last nail in the U.S. Coffin". The gathering reportedly ended with the burning of an American flag and the "chanting of anti-U.S. and anti-Zionist regime mottos."

President Barack Obama also weighed in on the OWS movement last week, saying that it "expresses the frustrations the American people feel." The President said that protestors are justified in their anger at Wall Street bankers, and used rhetoric familiar to his Administration to denounce wealthy Americans. Some people speculate that the recent involvement of political activism groups like MoveOn.org in OWS demonstrations will lead to Obama's use of the frustrated youths as an election vehicle as the 2012 election draws near.

Well, I just have to disagree. So many things are simply "old school" in this arena. For instance: hatred, the two-party system, the assumption of one president being better than another in the same corrupt system, ists, isms... So much is wrong with our nation at this moment in time -- none of which have to do with hypocrisy but with such things as corporate theft, corporate plunder and waste of earth's resources, predatory lending, corporate media telling the "news" as it sees fit (and mostly to propagandize and encourage shopping so they make more money) and the indisputable truth that our government is bought and paid for by corporations -- cronies, good ole boys working for each other exchanging laws for dollars (laws that they don't even bother to read -- let alone actually write -- depending mostly on the lobbyists to write the laws and "brief" them). Still going on today, a blatant disregard for what untold numbers of "dirty, stupid, hippie imbeciles" say, as can be evidenced in current events -- SOPA, for instance. Do like the "shop local" or "independent," and can agree with that wholeheartedly. If things get worse, as they have been since the bubble burst, participating in, and building a thriving community may be the only way through.

Thank you for your comment! I understand what your saying. It saddens me that America is so divided and I believe that the media has a lot to do with it. I wish there was a way for all of America to come together because I believe that we all want the same things but with the media, our environment, politicians, etc. we just cant seem to come together anymore.I really do appreciate your opinion and I wish that more people could talk and simply disagree rather than being mean and arguing. :) God bless.
