Who is Ofer Aronskind?
Ofer Aronskind is an American author of young adult novels. He is also an attorney and a real-estate investor. His stories focus on kids adventures and typical "coming-of-age" topics such as making new friends, self-discovery, and gaining confidence.
Ofer Aronskind migrated to the United States from Israel, in 1969 when he was six. Ofer's father was a famous soccer player in Israel and was offered by Adelphi University on Long Island to play on the school team. The Aronskinds stayed in Great Neck, Long Island, but soon he migrated to neighboring Little Neck in Queens. Ofer's family spent their summers at sleep-away camps in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts.
Ofer's parents worked at the camp while he and his sister were campers. The memories of those summers became the base for Ofer's first two books "Summer Sleep-Away" and "That Same Summer". Ofer graduated from Cardozo High School in 1981 and went on to attend SUNY Binghamton and then transferred to SUNY Albany from which he graduated with a BA in English in 1985.
Ofer then moved to Los Angeles and wrote screenplays. After a year he came back East to attend St. John's School of Law and did his graduation in law and took a job with the law firm of Weil, Gotshal & Manges where he practiced real estate law for the next decade.
He remained there until 1997, at which time he left the practice of law in order to pursue real estate investment opportunities. Ofer has three sons and currently lives in Short Hills, New Jersey. He spends his days writing, managing his real estate holdings, and raising his three teenage sons.

Ofer is Inspired by his Three Boys
Ofer's main objective is to write books that are loved by boys and they read and enjoy them. His primary goal is to write books that boys will want to read. Most of his writings are based on his personal experiences of his own life and of his own sons. His first two books, "That Same Summer" and "Summer Sleep-Away" are full of adventures and anecdotes. Actually these books are real stories of his own summer camp alongwith his family in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts.
Ofer Aronskind believes that reading is an imagination and vocabulary booster for anyone that opens a book. His past four books, and his upcoming fifth, are adventure stories meant to encourage young boys especially to open up a paperback.
Aronskind said that "Not sure why, but it seems boys read less than girls," "Maybe it is all the sports and video games boys enjoy, but good old-fashioned Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn stories are interesting to boys."
As a father of three boys, Aronskind feels he has become a bit of an authority on what boys like. His writing formula involves pulling from real life events that boys enjoy and recreating them to fictionalized "coming-of-age" stories.

Far from home, separated from his family and not knowing a soul, Mattie Kleinfeld is scared, homesick and cries himself to sleep. But soon the tears give way to new friends and fantastic adventures. Mattie goes hiking and fishing. He sails and swims and participates in team sports. But it is not the canoe trips or the overnights that set this summer apart; it is not even his first girlfriend. It is a clue that he and his pals stumble upon that leads them to the adventure of a lifetime, to a vast treasure and to a window that sheds light on Mattie's unique background. When he discovers that he's failed 8th grade science, he is devastated. He sits in the back of his summer course classroom and keeps to himself. But when his beloved dog Riley goes missing, Will is surprised to find that a few of his classmates come to his aid.
