  • vincent Mar 26, 2012 @ 6:58 am | delete
    Good day

    My name is Vincent Breedt.
I am 19 years old; I am extremely fit and enjoy doing physical activities.
I do not have any qualifications or courses done for offshore but it is something I have always wanted to do. The reason I haven’t done anything yet is because I cannot afford it.
My stepfather is doing diving at the moment and has been doing it for years therefore he has told me a lot about the trade and how you do things etc., but he will not help me to get a job as he feels that I need to achieve it myself.

I want to know if there are any positions available where I could be trained whilst on the rig.
Or if possible, you could send me for training and I work for you during which I would pay you back the money for the course/courses.
I am prepared to do any job-from the smallest job to the most difficult.
I have been doing IT (see CV attached) and I haven’t managed to find a job in IT that I am happy with; South Africa is not a great place to find work.
Going offshore has been a long time passion of mine and I am going to try and pursue that now with your help hopefully.

I have a family to support and am willing to work many months at a time.

Please could you give me this opportunity, or forward this email to somebody whom you think would help me.

    I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you for taking the time to read my email.

    Kind Regards
    Vincent Breedt.

Hello - I stumbled across this page and thought it might be worth suggesting another online resource. www.offcomm.info has lots of info for offshore people - including the training you need and some handy tips if you're looking to impress employers. There are also contact details for several current jobs. I run the blog as a hobby.... as a member of my family works offshore and I wanted to help.

I really enjoyed your lens. I am trying to raise awareness of just how bad things are with Shell and the Nigerian Crude Oil drilling and export. Much worse then the highly publicized BP accident. This is an everyday thing. Maybe you could visit my lens and share it with others? CLICK HERE

Great work on the lens! It's amazing how complex oil rig technology is - even more than what most people think. An example is how they accomplish hot tapping - a process in altering pipe extensions while the pipe is still under pressure and operational.
