Off-Beat Charities: Helping Others in Unusual Ways
Ranked #210 in Nonprofits, #60,568 overall
Making the World Better, One Weird Way at a Time
I like the unusual, the off-beat, the different. And I noticed that charities I tended to make lenses about were fitting that pattern. So I went to look for other lenses that featured unusual charities. I was looking for charities that had unusual ways to give, provided solutions to unusual problems, developed unusual solutions to usual problems, anything that appealed to me. Here's what I found! I hope you enjoy them
Asante Foundation
Canstruction
Child's Play Charity
Dog Tags for Kids
Food For Everyone Foundation
Los Angeles Nonprofit to design a 100 MPG car
Kiva
Planet Gumbo
Smile Train
Soles United
The Critter Connection
Matter of Trust
Pajama Program
Free Rice
Ronald McDonald House
Vitamin Angels
Adopt a Donkey

- I love KIVA and use it a lot. I really like the idea of supporting someone to open their own business and potentially become self sufficient in a third world country. Excellent lens!

- I have an unusual charity. http://www.boobiesplease.com - it's a site to help me raise money for my boobies. Please donate! I'm donating 15% to breast cancer research too. But I really like all of these charities - especially Kiva and Free Rice.
