I had a water cooler with bottles at home in the USA, and it was great to always have icy cold water available, however you have to have somewhere to store the extra bottles and to make sure you order the right amount. The plumbed in machines are a lot better in my opinion. You do need to have a good water supply and to make sure you check the filters, but especially for offices and larger volume locations it's a good idea.

In offices where a permanent alteration such as a plumbed-in water cooler is not permitted, a bottled water dispenser is the suitable choice. Because this type of water cooler dispenser is impermanent and portable, it can be placed in direct proximity to any work area, far from any water supply. This is especially convenient in temporary offices such as those found on construction sites.

Having a supply of bottled water to drink is particularly beneficial in areas where the tap water is unpleasant tasting or of questionable quality. In the home, a bottled water cooler dispenser is ideal in situations where permanent alterations to the premises are not permitted, such as in rental units.

So much more efficient and easier to use than the bottled water coolers - I wish I had one at my office!

Haven't heard of plumbed in water cooler. It does make a lot of sense. Very interesting information.

Wow, that's a great option and definitely helps with plastic waste.

Great lens! I didn't even know this existed. Gives me another option. I live in a rural community and we were told not to drink the water. We have filters on all the faucets, but we still drink bottled water. In a family with 7 kids, that's a lot of water. I was advised not to get a water softener because it could damage the sump pump or the septic tank. This sounds like something I can consider...

Definitely sounds like a good idea and much easier than refilling a pitcher filter a dozen times a day! (Guess which I have?)

Steve, I don't know about water coolers! But we have had a fitted water filter to filter our water for the past 10 years and it costs me £49 twice a year just to change the filter unit itself. I always think of water coolers as office equipment, when really we should all have one in our homes.

Nice lens, I much prefer water from a cooler. Of course now being Americanised, I have to have my water icy cold! At work out coolers are all plumbed in.

    Hello!
Especially now in Summer these water coolers would be ideal. Keep up the good work! 5 stars.

Intersting...I didn't realize you could buy a "plumbed in" water cooler like this. We have one that stands alone - requiring refills with bottled water. I must look into these kind futher. Thanks for the information.
