Good Business to Start with Little or No Money

These days, people want to start businesses in order to make some extra money or replace income from a lost job, or even to have a backup income source if an existing job is lost.

Many times, it can be tough to start a new business. Many require a large investment of capital that a lot of people don't have these days.

Fortunately, there are businesses, such as an office cleaning business, that can be started out of the home with little investment. Many of the things you'll need are things you probably already have around the house!

What Do You Need to Get Started?

The very basic essentials

First, you'll need some cleaning supplies, many of which you probably already have at home that you use for cleaning around the house. You'll need a good glass cleaner. (In a pinch, you could use vinegar & water.) You'll need a wood cleaner and polisher; just be sure you read up on these as you wouldn't want to damage any fine woods any of your clients may have! You'll also need a good all-purpose cleaner. A floor cleaner would be a good idea as well.

Next, you'll need some good cleaning equipment. You'll need a vacuum. You'll need a mop and a broom. A feather duster, or equivalent, will also come in handy.

Additionally, some other things that will be useful are rubber gloves and trash bags. A small step ladder will also come in handy for those hard to reach areas.

Finally, you'll need a reliable car or van with enough space to haul your cleaning equipment and supplies, as well as any helpers (such as family members) you may take along with you.

How to Store Your Cleaning Supplies and Equipment

Some storage tips

While it's true you may already have all the supplies you need to get started with your own office cleaning business, you'll want to organize everything so that you can quickly load them into your car or van when it's time to head out to your clients.

Some may be tempted to buy new supplies and equipment, rather than to use what they already have, in order to save the hassle of packing everything up. As your business grows, this may be a wise thing to do. But, starting out, you can avoid the additional expense simply by staying organized.

If you don't already have your cleaning supplies and equipment in a defined space, which is something you should do even if you're not getting into the cleaning business, now is a good time to do so. You can keep your things together in a garage or laundry room, or somewhere else that is easily accessible for loading into the car or van as well as for your regular household cleaning.

For the time being, you may very well wish to keep the supplies and equipment nearer to the car or van for the simple convenience of it when heading out on a job. It may be an inconvenience, for a time, for your household cleaning needs, but, as your office cleaning business grows, you can buy the supplies and equipment you need for exclusive use for your business. Then, you can keep both sets of supplies and equipment in convenient locations for your household or business needs.

The thing is to be careful not to expend extra money that you don't need to right away. If you want to start buying duplicates of anything, start with the cleaning supplies you will use around the house anyway. Don't buy additional equipment, like a vacuum cleaner, right away. In any case, it's always best not to spend any money you don't absolutely have to.
