Expanded Offshore Drilling - Unnecessary and Dangerous
Offshore drilling for petroleum and natural gas is a threat to some of the most vulnerable ecosystems on the planet. The oceans that surround the USA are already overfished, polluted, and suffering the effects of global warming. Drilling for fossil fuels right along America's shores will only make the marine ecological crisis worse.
Even if you discount the remarkable environmental threat brought about by offshore drilling, expanding drilling along America's shores makes no sense. Offshore drilling won't help with the current economic crisis created by high gasoline prices because the first oil from the drilling won't become available until years from now. Even then, the offshore drilling will only lower the price of gasoline by a few pennies.
Are you willing to sell out America's oceans for just a few pennies?
