Oil of Olay ~ Beauty Product Review

I started using the Original Classic "Oil of Olay" Beauty Lotion when I was a senior in high school. I was looking for an everyday facial moisturizer that was lightweight and pleasant smelling. "Oil of Olay" at that time was advertised as a mysterious beauty lotion that would keep your skin moist and youthful looking. With graduation in the forecast, I must have had a fear of growing old for some reason.

My mother was very youthful looking and was using 2nd Debut Lotion but I didn't care for the scent. She also used a lot of Avon Products that were very overpowering. Strong is probably the right word. If I recall, she received a sample of "Oil of Olay" in the mail. "Oil of Olay" was also being heavily promoted in the drugstores. My mom started using a sample of "Oil of Olay" so I bought a bottle for myself.

Over the years, I have tried a few other facial moisturizers but each time I went back to using "Oil of Olay." I had to discontinue using other products because of the scent and my reactions to these products. I have a sensitive nose but I never realized I had sensitive skin or sensitivity to unscented products. I tried a few unscented and hypo allergic beauty lotions because of my sensitive nose. Not only did I have reactions (to well-known name products) but also ended developing adult onset acne. I believe trying too many new products at once caused my skin to react and break out. Eventually, my acne did clear up with prescription antibiotics.

I have tried OLAY Classic, Sensitive and Complete Moisturizing Lotions. What I like about OLAY is that it absorbs quickly even when too much is applied. I haven't had a problem with clogged pores from using this product on a daily basis or any skin reactions. If I apply too much product, I apply the extra to my hands and wrists. OLAY feels lightweight and for this reason, I like using it under foundation. It makes my skin feel moist and the foundation feels less caked when I apply OLAY before applying foundation.

Although the new Complete Formula has a stronger sunscreen smell, overall the OLAY Beauty Lotions have a pleasant fragrance. Over the years my face feels smoother and appears younger looking (so I am told). I switched to the OLAY Complete Formula (the formula with added sunscreen) from OLAY Classic Beauty Lotion. I used to spend a fair amount of time outdoors and I liked knowing that I already had sunscreen applied without having to worry about suntan lotion. Today, my preferred Beauty Lotion is still OLAY Complete All Day Moisturizer.

The Original Classic Beauty Lotion has changed names a few times...to reflect time...to capture a wider customer base...to become more appealing and modern. I am sometimes lost as to why they keep changing the name. Some of the bottles that I now own say "Moisture Lotion" and others say "Moisturizing Lotion."

OLAY Classic is also available in Sensitive Formula. I have to agree that it is the best moisturizer for sensitive faces. I usually hesitate when trying a product that claims to be hypo-allergic and that contains additional ingredients. However, I was pleasantly surprised that this product actually feels soothing and has a thicker creamier consistency.

Everyone has different skin types and needs to know what they are using or what might benefit their skin type. You want to make sure that you are informed about a product before you buy it. If you are not sure if a product is for you, ask the cosmetician at your local drugstore. If there isn't a drugstore in your area, you can always check online at a company's website and see if there is any information in a forum.

As an alternative, I would highly recommend that you try a sample of a product first; especially if you have sensitive skin. With so many different new skin care products on the market every year, it is always wise to seek out information first. You never know when you could have a potential reaction to a new product.

Today, I use OLAY Complete Beauty Fluid on most days; with or without sheer foundation. I prefer using OLAY Complete because of the added sunscreen. I tan easily but my face is sometimes sensitive to wind burn. I use the Active or Sensitive formulas when I'm staying indoors. These two alternative beauty lotions to the OLAY Complete Beauty Fluid were given to me as gifts. I don't normally buy either the Olay Classic or Sensitive formulas.

After using "Oil of Olay" and/or OLAY Products for many years, I would have to say that I am completely satisfied with this product. I have noticed that my skin always feels moist and never dry. Other the years, the formulas has changed but the products always seem to provide the same consistent results. The fragrance of the products has always remained pleasant and not overpowering. The products I use are very affordable and can be used on a daily basis. I hope my review of OLAY will help you decide whether these products are right for you.
