A primary reality

There are only three colors in this world so this lens will not be too hard to figure out. We all know them- we learned them in kindergarten!! You know the primary colors: RED, BLUE, and YELLOW. I told you you would get it right away. I bet your thinking what about black that is a color that can't be like any other because it is sooo dark. Wrong black is a mixture of all three usually with more green, blue, or brown. White is another story all together. To tell you the truth painting with white gives a distinct color of fog to paintings. Remember the canvas is white, so white paint is not needed.

Let say you have started a masterpiece and deciding the next color is hard for you. Don't feel bad because it is hard for everyone. Ask a friend who enjoys your art. A fresh prospective is always a good idea. Remember it is only there opinion if you don't agree than get a second, third, or fourth option.retweet

If you don't have any friends or are a hermit that is okay also just stare at your painting and think about what color would be a mixture of the colors that are underneath the top layer of paint. The great thing about oil painting is that an under color will become more pronounced if it is applied on top of itself. Giving the impression of jumping out of the page.

Keep it simple

Most people think that having the most extravagant colors are going to make the best art money can buy or it will make the average turn into a masterpiece. The truth is that simple is more beautiful, more extravagant, and priceless. Making a small change will go a long way in painting. The smaller your adjustments in the blend the more amazing the painting will be.

Try taking a color and making thirty small variations- you will find that your painting will flow automatically independent of your brush strokes. An almost hologram of sort. Remember to have fun and it will show in your works of art!!
