Old As A Tree

The first moment I saw Aunt Helen this time around, we both cried.

We took a tree tour at Indiana University and saw this unusual old Ash tree that has a tremendous amount of character!

Here is Aunt Helen with my beautiful niece, Kirsten, who is giving Aunt Helen a gift of a dried rose necklace as well as an herbal eye pillow to use to sooth tired eyes. Kirsten made both of these.

This little guy is charismatic and talented for a mere 7 years of age. What does life have in store for him? What kind of innovative path will he choose? Or will choose him?

This is Kirsten's youngest child of three.

Be Like A Tree, grounded and secure, unmoved by the swirling dramas that sway human life, but do nothing to effect the Life Of A Tree.

I don't know how Aunt Helen did it. The third day of the three day party, over 50 people showed up and every one of them sat next to her, squeezed her hand, and kissed her on the cheek. She was like an old tree--rooted in her own precious space, and helping others to be grounded, too.
