Collecting Vintage Fishing Lures

Many outdoor enthusiasts as well as anglers enjoy the hobby of collecting old fishing lures. For those not familiar with the sport of fishing, a fishing lure is an artificial bait that has a hook or multiple hooks attached to it. These vintage fishing lures were designed to resemble the favorite foods of popular game fish. A wide variety of different materials were used for making these lures with the earliest ones being wood and metal. These antique fishing lures were also produced in all shapes and sizes depending on which type of fish they were designed to catch. Modern day fishing lures are a little more high tech and come in a large variety of brands and sizes but the main goal of any of these baits whether modern or old is to catch fish.

Collectible fishing lures were produced by many different bait companies. Some of the most sought after antique fishing lures were manufactured by the Creek Chub Bait Company, Fred Arbogast and Company, James Heddon and Company and the Paw Paw Bait Company just to name a few.
