Birmingham in Vintage Postcards

Birmingham (known locally as Brummagem, or just Brum for short) is a great city which I've visited regularly since I was a kid. My father was born here - in Olton - and used to take local produce from the Claverdon area to the Bull Ring Market in the 1920s - he would find things a bit different now !! Later he was a bus driver for the Midland Red.

All our old postcards of Birmingham are between 50 and 110 years old . You may see all of them by following the link to Postcards of the Past which you will find just below.

I have some old photos like this of my home town Carlisle and a few of Nottingham where I live now. These are great and I recognise some from my trips to Brum. I had a nice stay at Brindley Place on a canal boat trip the other year and great Chinese meal just down from New Street station.

There are some great restaurants in Chinatown ! I've got some old postcards of Nottingham on my website - www.oldstratforduponavon.com/nottingham - but none of Carlisle yet. Glad you enjoyed Brum !
