Old Postcards of Boxers

Boxers - Vintage Postcards

Postcards of boxers from the early 20th century are not so plentiful as you might think, given the popularity of the sport amongst certain sections of the population. We have managed to collect a few, which you can see on our website (link just below), and we've reproduced some of them here. We'd be interested to know your opinion of the sport - do you approve of two people trying to knock the living daylights out of each other, or do you think it's a brutal sport which should be banned ? Give us your thoughts below, or vote in our poll.

Many people think that boxing is a vicious sport which can cause serious injury to the participants and also teaches young, easily influenced kids to be aggressive and violent. Others think it is good for kids to learn to defend themselves and enjoy a good scrap. What do you think ?

You know, I am not really a boxing fan, although I've watched a lot of it in my life. P.S. since I was just visiting your giggleberries underwear lens, I thought I was in store for some underwear. ;)

I remember seeing the movie and stage production of the Great White Hope depicting the life and times of the great John Arthur "Jack" Johnson. James Earl Jones gave a superb performance in portraying this talented "sportsmen" who defied the odds to become Heavyweight Champion.
