The Capital of France in the early years of the Twentieth Century
Paris is of course the capital of France, and is also that country's largest city. It is situated in the north, at the centre of the Ile-de-France region. The population of the city proper is about 2.25 million, but the larger Paris Urbaine area contains around 12 million inhabitants. Paris is very popular with tourists, receiving over 40 million visitors every year.
