Warwick Castle - A Fine, Mediaeval Castle in England's Heartland
You can find Warwick Castle right in the middle of Warwick, the county town of Warwickshire, about 9 miles north of Stratford-upon-Avon. Construction of the castle began about 914AD when fortifications were built to protect what was then a small hilltop settlement. It grew over the centuries until it became what it is today, one of the finest examples of a mediaeval castle in the country.
In 1978, Warwick Castle was bought by the Tussauds Group who carried out extensive repairs and restoration and opened the castle to the public . It is now a huge tourist attraction with hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. It is easily reached from Stratford, so go there after your Shakespeare Tour !

- Yes its brilliant. I took my kids there a few years back. A proper castle, not like the mansion box we have in Nottingham the source of so many disappointed American tourists!
