How Nintendo Got Started
Some facts about NES
Trying to make a niche in the video game in the early 1980s, Nintendo in the early 80's had only been selling a handful of games in the North American Market. Nintendo first tried to launch a game system with Atari called the Famicom, but that fell through he cracks. Then Nintendo created a version, based off the idea of the Famicon. They first released this unit in Japan with great success, Nintendo then decided to launch this system in North America. So during the fall of 1985 Nintendo unveiled the NES system to the marketplace. Nintendo first released about 18 or so games to go with the unit. As the unit became more and more popular more great games were created and launched. Much of the initial success of the nes system, (Nintendo Entertainment System) was due in large part because of the Japanese and North American markets.
When the NES was launched the Nintendo sold with 2 options. The NES console 2 controllers and 1 game (Super Mario Brothers) this retailed for $199. The other option sold with Rob the NES Robot and Duck or Gryomite. Then after a couple years NES sold their game systems for $149 which included Super Mario Bros/ Duck Hunt 2 controllers and the Zapper.
As Nintendo dominated the late 1980's, Nintendo was slow to keep evolving the nes system. New gaming systems became the new thing. Such as the Sega Genesis with their 16-Bit game system. These large units were the Sega Genesis, not to mention Nintendo soon released Super Nintendo
As the demand for the Original Nintendo Nes system slowed. Nintendo released an evolved NES System know as the NES 2 or the Top Loader. This system eliminated a lot of the common problems of the original nes, but the release of the NES 2 became too little to late. As only approx 250,000 of these units were sold world wide. Finding the Nes 2 today can become challenging, but with eBay you can find them. " Be careful when looking for a NES 2 or Model 101 as there are many crappy replicas." Then in 1995 Nintendo stopped making the NES. Ending the rein of one of the best game systems ever made.Looking for more info on why the Nintendo NES will live on. An in-depth look at why it will, thanks to the internet.
