The Old West Saloons
Never been in a saloon you say? They are alright places. Them fur trappers, cowboys and them soldiers git thirsty! Some of them gold miners would trade ya a bit of gold to git a good ol' snoot of whisky. They tried not to get mixed up too much with them gamblers, though. First thing ya know there'd be a shoot-out over some card game!
That's why them saloons git bad names! There's a bunch of 'em around though. Did you know that the very first saloon was up there in Brown's Hole? Yep! Back in 1822 them fur traders needed a place to drink, so they built one! I knowed one town in Montana that had 33 of them saloons! T'wernt but about 3000 people there!
I been to a few saloons on my way here to the Pineywoods of East Texas. I went to the Bull's Head up there in Abilene, Kansas and I had to go over to Colorado and check out the Holy Moses in Creede. I think the Long Branch in Dodge City, Kansas was a purdy good place to go. And over there in Arizona they have one called the Birdcage Theater, but it's a saloon too! I guess them folks wanna hide their drinkin' places! Ol Judge Roy Bean has a saloon over there in Langtry, Texas. Far as I know, they all open all the time.
So now here I am with SALOON OF SCENTS! Except here, you only get the scent of a drink. Not the drink itself! And there's no alcohol in mine! Go on in and belly up to the bar! Tell 'em ol' Salty said it's on the house! Leave yer pistol at the door. 'N don't forgit about the saloon over at this town Rollins Creek
