Information about Olive Oil for The Face & Hair
Sophia Loren said: "Everything you see I owe to spaghetti and olive oil". When olive oil is good enough for SL then it is definitely good enough for me.
So I decided to do a bit of research about olive used in beauty products.
It turns out that olive oil is rich in polyphenol, an antioxidant, which slows the process of skin wrinkling.
.
Then I started to use a special olive oil cleanser recipe for my face, and an olive oil night moisturizer. And, wow! What a difference it makes in my complexion. Even my friends say I look younger now than 5 years ago.
Olive oil is also perfect to get shiny hair. You can find my favorite below.
I even heard the Sophia Loren takes baths in olive oil! I really want to try that! That experience will be another lens.
My lens is all about what I found while I was researching the topic and my own experiences using olive oil for my face and hair.
I hope you enjoy reading my blog as much as I enjoyed creating it!

Cleansing Olive Oil Recipe
Olive oil has been used since the Roman empire ruled, among other things it was used for baths. Somewhat impractical but next the best thing is to use it for your face, as a make up remover, a cleanser or as an excellent night moisturizer. However if you want to use it in your bath add 3 tablespoons of olive oil in your bath.
The best olive oil to use both in cooking and in beauty products is the extra virgin olive oil because Extra virgin is the highest quality olive oil - characterized by "perfect flavor and odor, max acidity (oleic acid) of 1g/100g - 1% with maximum peroxide value mequiv 02/kg of 20."
OK that was a bit technical, so let us start with a great cleansing olive oil for your face:
Blend:
15 drops of lavender oil
15 drops of eucalyptus oil
1 Tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
Apply it on your face avoid the eye area, let it sit for 10 minutes and then remove remaining oil (if any)
Stores in the fridge.

Warm Olive Oil Hair Treatment
When I travel, I do my best to travel light. One thing I have cut down on lately is my beauty box. I feel as if the content of my beauty box has become double proportional to my age.
One reason to stop carrying so much is the weight of beauty products in my travel bag. Another reason is that a hair treatment can be quite expensive to buy.
So, I have tested several home made recipes for hair treatments. There are several different kinds of treatments you can make easily yourself, and you will save a lot of money as well. Some give moisture to the hair, others make your hair softer, and so on.
My super-duper-once-a-week homemade hair treatment does not take long to make, is very cheap and will leave your hair soft and very shiny. I use this treatment once a week and my hair looks healthy and shiny every day.
Ingredients:
1/2 dl. dried rosemary leaves
1/2 dl. olive oil
How to:
1. Blend the oil and the rosemary leaves in a small pot and
2. Warm the blend over moderate heat.
3. Stir the blend during the heating up
4. Remove the pot from the heat and sieve the blend to remove the rosemary leaves
IMPORTANT: let the oil cool down enough so you can put your finger in it.
6. Apply the blend to your scalp with the lukewarm oil and wrap your hair with cling foil and cover with a towel.
7. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
8. Wash your hair until the oil is out of the hair.
WARNING: always always apply shampoo to the hair before adding water or you will "never" get the oil out.

- I need to try this one. I much prefer using home-made face masks and cleansers because then you can see exactly what you're putting on your face and it's not as harsh on your skin. Great lens, thanks for making it. :)
