It really works...Omega Paw Self-Cleaning Litter Box

The Omega Paw litter box really does work great. Read my first-hand review. The Omega Paw self-cleaning litter box is a large self-cleaning litter box. You just roll the unit over its rounded edge and roll it back. The patented grill separates the waste from the litter and the waste is deposited into a pull-out draw for easy disposal. The Omega Paw self-cleaning litter box effectively controls dust and contains odors. It is ideal for big cats or multiple-cat households. The Omega Paw is easy to assemble, easy to use, and takes no electricity, liners, or filters. Best of all it really does work.

Omega Paw Self-Cleaning Litter Box Review

Omega Paw self-cleaning litter box out of its shipping boxOmega Paw self-cleaning litter box really does work as advertised. I first started looking at the Litter Robot LRII Automatic Self-Cleaning Litter Box; I thought the design was cool and the concept clever. Omega Paw self-cleaning litter box pictured to the left is sort of a non-motorized version of the Litter Robot LRII Automatic Self-Cleaning Litter Box. The motorized one is hundreds of dollars more though. If the price tag wasn't so steep, I'd go for the Litter Robot, but Omega Paw's $35 price tag (free shipping too) sold me. I am very content with the product. There are two sizes available: regular and large. I do recommend the large for any size cat - the more the room in general the better for the cat.

The Omega Paw Self-Cleaning Litter Box Out of Box

Omega Paw litter box unassembledI received the Omega Paw self-cleaning litter box in the mail today. I actually received two of them. It was my fault though; I believe I hit a submit button twice somewhere. That's okay though, three people at work offered to buy it from me. Well, that's it out of the box, so far so good. The litter box came in four pieces: the top, bottom, the sifting screen, and the capture drawer.

Assembling the Omega Paw Self-Cleaning Litter Box

Snapping the patended Omega Paw self-cleaning litter box screenThe screen easily fit into the notches in the base of the unit and snapped into place along the recessed notch along the rim of the bottom piece. You need to make sure the screen piece is fully snapped into the bottom's rim or the top will not fit properly.

Final Assembly of the Omega Paw Self-Cleaning Litter Box

Snapping the Omega Paw top and base componentsOnce the screen is secured, place the top roof on, align the sliding fasteners into their respective slots and slide them into place. Make sure sliding fasteners are fully locked in place. Flip the Omega Paw litter box over to make sure the sliding fasteners are fully engaged. Slide the drawer in place and it's ready to go. You should use a good quality clumping litter with this self-cleaning cat litter box.

Kyle checking out his new litter box

Kyle likes his new self--cleaning litter boxThere it is. As stated earlier, this is the large unit and Kyle fits just fine in there with enough room to move around comfortably. The large unit is 23in long, 19in wide, 18.5in high and the regular unit is 20in loing X 17in3 wide X 16.5in high. If I had purchased the regular unit I would imagine it would have been a bit too small. Kyle is a normal sized cat and kittens don't stay kittens forever.

Post Review of the Omega Paw Self-Cleaning Litter Box

I've had it now for a year or two

Having used the Omega Paw self-cleaning litter box, I could say I am happy with the purchase. Here are a few hints when owning this self-cleaning litter box: When you flip it over you will be tempted to bang on the bottom of the unit to dislodge anything stuck to the floor of the unit. Do not bang on it where the screen is notched into the base; if you must hit the bottom, do it on the opposite side of the unit, away from the screen. I made this mistake and the screen "tore" a bit where it folds. I was able to fix it without any loss of function. If you use an ample amount of litter, there will be less of a chance for anything sticking to the surfaces. On the other hand, if you use too much litter, the cats will kick it out of the unit or you will tend to waste it when rolling it over: you will get clean litter in the pull-out draw as well as the clumped waste.

Cleaning the Omega Paw Litter Box

Keep it clean. About once a week or so (more often "or so"), i will roll the unit over, collect the waste, disassemble the unit, and wash the four plastic pieces, This is really easy to do. Just take it outside and hose the pieces off; you could squirt a little dish soap on them as well.

I bought an Omega, and I really love it. It took a while for my cats to get used to it, but now they use it without a problem. It is so easy to clean, I would recommend it to any cat owner.
