Supply List

* Frying pan
* Spatula
* Bowl to mix the eggs
* Serving plate
* Cutting board
* Knife
* Tablespoon
* Whisk

* 2 to 3 eggs, or equivalent of egg substitute
* Milk
* Butter or non-stick spray
* Omelet fillings: get as creative as you want here. Many things go well with eggs.
Some suggestions include cheddar cheese, ham, peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, or sausage.
* Optional salt and pepper.

Step 1

Cut, slice or dice up your omelet fillings. It is important to cut them before you start cooking the eggs, because you may not have enough time to do this while the eggs are cooking. Possible omelet fillings include cheese, diced tomatoes, mushrooms, peppers, ham, sausage, or any other thing you think might go well with eggs. Let your imagination run wild and see what creative combination you can come up with!

Step 2

This step isn't essential, but merely based on your own preference or taste. Sautee any of the vegetables you will be including in the omelet filling. This way, they'll be softer and not so crunchy and raw. However, if you prefer them that way, there's nothing wrong with it!

Step 3

Take an eight to ten inch frying pan and oil liberally with a nonstick spray or butter. This is an important step because you don't want the eggs to stick. If they stick to the bottom of the pan, the omelet can break apart and lose its shape.

Step 4

Crack 2 to 3 eggs into a bowl. Add 2 tablespoons of milk if extra fluffiness is desired. Once again, this isn't a necessary step, but based only on your preference. If you don't wish to use whole eggs in your omelet, using egg whites or other low calorie egg substitute can be substituted for this step.

Step 5

Beat the eggs and milk with a wire whisk until the yolk and whites are combined together. Make sure the mixture is of an even consistency. But don't make the omelet mixture too frothy.

Step 6

Turn on your burner to medium heat and put the frying pan on the burner until it heats up. It is important not to use high heat because eggs cook very quickly and could end up getting burned. No one wants a burned omelet!

Step 7

Once the pan is hot, pour the eggs into the pan. Be sure to keep the temperature consistent. Make sure the eggs for your omelet are spread throughout the pan by slightly rotating it. Let them cook until the eggs start to set. This means that they start to become firm.

Step 8

As the omelet start to set, use your spatula to cut around the edges of the egg mixture, so that the liquid egg can come into direct contact with the pan. It can also be helpful to swirl the pan as well.

Step 9

Once the egg mixture has become solid, but is still shiny, add your fillings. Put the omelet fillings only on half of the circle. Make sure not to overstuff it. It is also good to leave a little bit of room around the edges, so that the filling doesn't spill out

Step 10

Now for the part many people dread! But it's really not that bad. Folding the omelet. Run your spatula around the edge that is opposite of the filling. This is to make sure it is not stuck. Take your spatula and make sure it is under half of the omelet. Flip the empty half over the filling.

Step 11

Let the omelet sit until you see any cheese start to melt. This shouldn't take too long, since the half that was flipped over should have been quite warm.

Step 12

Take your spatula and make sure the omelet is not sticking to the pan. Once it's free, take the pan to your plate and let it slide on out. Add salt and pepper to taste. Now dig on in and enjoy!
