This page will hopefully help to open your eyes to soda. In no way is this a website telling you that soda is bad and that you should drink healthy drinks instead. What my intention is, is for you to have fun and learn something new. Maybe you will make a change to something and maybe you won't. That's up to you.

Ways to Lessen the Massive Calorie Intake
Have Less Soda

Total Calories in This Picture = 1,840 calories!!
(Note: I did not drink this all in a week or two. It was collected.)

Total Calories in This Picture = 1,220 calories!

Total Calories in This Picture = 790 calories

Total Calories in This Picture = 480 calories
Drinking less soda will make a HUGE difference in your health and in calories. Say, if you are the kind of person who has over 3 cans of soda a day, try to cut it to just one a day. One can a day may seem like a little for some people, but if you really add it up that is still a lot of calories as you are having a total of 7 cans of pop (what Canadians call soda) a week, which would be over 700 calories total in that week alone. This is why a lot of health specialists and trainers and websites always advise you to stop drinking soda to help lose weight as soda really plays a big role in weight gain. It is a very refreshing product that you (myself included) can easily be deceived by not only its taste but by how small a bottle size it is, as well as how shiny and appealing the soda cans look. Just try your best to lower the amount of soda you drink, especially if you are trying to lose weight as you will definitely see and feel a huge difference with less. Go ahead, and give this a try.
Choose the Soda With the Least Calories

If you are a lover for A & W or Crush soda, I am sorry because you have to quit drinking so much of it or all of it now. A & W soda has 170 calories in one can of soda and Crush has 180 calories. Just having one of these a day for the week, you are literally drinking over 1,000 calories! To cut down the amount of calories you would regularly drink, choose the soda with the lowest calorie intake. Lucky for you, there are three sodas that have the lowest calories out of the bunch. These sodas are Sprite, Canada Dry and Dr. Pepper. Oh, and Pepsi is in the running for second place as well. It would be very rare for you to not like at least one of these beverages that I've just mentioned, so switching to another soda would be a piece of cake; well, a healthier piece of cake. :)
Make a Switch

The best option for those looking to seriously lose over 20 pounds and up is to switch to water. As you are probably either already on a diet, switching from soda to water will guarantee much faster results. It's hard enough just to work off one soda which would be 140 calories and up, but imagine if you had two for the day (280 calories and up) or one everyday of the week (980 calories); it would take you a while before you would even get to the part where you are losing weight. All soda is going to do is to make you either keep on the weight or gain more. So, just switch. As hard as it will be, it will be well worth it in the end.
Exercise

Soda can be very difficult to quit (well for me). What you can do to stop worrying about being unhealthy or gaining weight is to exercise. Exercising burns calories and helps individuals like myself feel less guilty for eating take out on a Friday. Drinking soda and any other sweet beverage while not exercising will guarantee weight gain and health problems for sure. Exercising while drinking soda will prevent you from gaining weight, but it really depends on what you eat with it, how much soda you drink and on how much calories burned in your workout session. The best option to do along with exercising is to either drink less soda or switch to water.
Don't Lose the Fizz
As said in the title, "Don't lose the fizz!". Whether you are taking a break from drinking the soda, forgot that you were drinking it or were just full, placing it down on table or in the fridge uncovered, will allow all of the fizz (carbon dioxide) to gradually disappear making the soda sweet, fizzless and I don't know about you, but, just pure disgusting in taste. Basically when the soda loses its fizz, drinking any more of it is completely out of the option and what most people end up doing is throwing away sometimes a soda can that is half-full!
This continual practice is wasteful and might actually increase your craving to get another soda which is more calories. It's pretty much all in the head. When you like something and never got to finish it, it is like you have to start from the top again to enjoy it as you had wanted to in the first place. Sometimes this urge might even cause you to drink more soda than you had originally had intended to. :(
Honestly, if you had covered your soda can with a cover or something, you would have been able to save it to drink for later. That seems so simple to do, yet we continually make this mistake over and over gain. Why? Well, my answer when I did this was, "I don't know, I guess I could have but felt too lazy to do it". All you have to do is get a soda can cover which seals up the top of the soda can and saving not only your money, but your craving as well. You can try saran wrap, but sometimes it does not stick well and basically if there is one little part that is not tightly wrapped, you will still end up losing the fizz and this can be very frustrating and time consuming to do over and over and over again. Just saying, "Don't be lazy and cover your soda. You won't regret it."
Are You a Fizz Waster?! :o

Make Soda Crushing Much Easier to Do

Soda cans can take up a lot of space in the recycle bin and the common practice these days is to crush them one by one. Some people might find this fun, but in time, this practice can become very challenging and frustrating. Plus in addition to that, you have to really be careful not to hurt yourself when crushing the aluminium can. You could severely injure your feet or/and your hands, which will result in you ending up in a hospital. Not only that, but if some small aluminum bits get torn off the can, you again and someone else might get injured.
To think that crushing soda cans was just simple. Well if you are a soda can crusher, you know that this activity takes skill to do it the right way. Everyone, including my dad, has their own special method of crushing soda cans and other bottles as well. But skill alone is not going to 100% prevent you from hurting yourself. Even continual practice of these can crushing methods can cause an individual alot of strain in their hands and fingers and maybe even their feet if they stomp too hard.
There is a really great solution to prevent yourself from strain and injury called a soda can crusher. It is a manual type of device that makes the crushing of cans easier and simpler to do. This will cut your soda crushing time down immensely and make soda more fun and safe for all ages to do.

- Great lens--but I hate pop. If I do drink the odd one, it's gotta be flat. As a kid I grew up and my whole family was overweight mostly because of pop. I had a balloon in my belly at just 7 years old because we drink it so much. By the time I was 13 I weighed 170 pounds at 4ft9. After a couple years I finally got rid of the weight, just by cutting pop out of my diet and i've almost never touched it again
