Reminiscences of Cape Cod

Follow the crook of the arm
Past cranberry bog and apple farm
You're on your way to the Lower Cape
For a long weekend, a great escape

Past lobster shacks and t-shirt shops
Highway cabins and ice cream stops
Soon the commerce is mostly passed
Almost at our place, at last

This narrow piece of marshy land
With stunted pines in salty sand
Between the Atlantic and Cape Cod Bay
Where many Bostonians come to stay

In an old cottage above the Bay
We used to vacation; the girls would play
At low tide we'd walk along the beach
And somedays Provincetown we would reach

We cooked lobster and we'd cook fishes
And serve them up on the cottage dishes
These were the freshest, caught that day
All scrumptious meals during our stay

We had a funky radio but no TV
And the ills of the world were far off indeed
An excellent place to take our rest
We miss those days; they were the best

Get fresh fish at the market
Live lobsters by the pound
Just drive the car and park it
North of Nantucket Sound
