It is common for folks to look for best coffee makers, believing that finding it would get them a great coffee. Before the invention of machines, folks are concern about finding the best coffee species, roasting the best blend...

In short, people are always looking for ways to get that perfect cuppa. Would I be able to tell you how? Well, I believe the mindset is key to good coffee, i.e. a vending machine coffee enjoyed in Mt Fuji is so much tastier than a cuppa from Clover machine (world most expensive machine) in office drank to remain alert so that you can meet the dateline...

What do you mean by cheap coffee makers? 

Lots of have happened since my last post. The world has lost a music giant -the king of pop and a famous actress had died. On a more daily note, my friend bought and was surprised that her cheap coffee makers cannot work (yes, I used plural because she bought two of them!)

This goes back to my theory of best value buy. Most of the time, people would look for the lowest cost, believing that it is the cheapest. In my country, there is this slogan, "good things doesn't come cheap, cheap things doesn't come good" and this is exactly how the whole system works.

If a $100 coffee maker is the same as a $20 ones, why would people bother to buy the former? Of course, each of us have our own taste profile and requirements, so, a lower end coffee machine might be suitable for some of us, but I still go back to the point of making sure that the entire value package is good.

So, if a cheap coffee maker break down easily, why would people bother to buy them? Well, for those that are going for a shop stay in some remote areas? They might buy and throw away after that?

This is just one of the situation why people would buy a "low end" coffee machine, there would definitely be more...would stop here.

Wow, so what am I doing? Writing a course for people to become baristas? Or course, I am not doing that, neither am I qualify to do that, in fact, I do not think there is such a course around that does that.

How could anyone simply learned a skill simply by reading about it. It is just not possible. Similarly, how could you hand over the fate of your morning brew to a few pieces of coffee maker reviews.

I do not think it is bad to listen to feedback and comments about what people says about the coffee machines. But, the wrong thing is to take it as the gospel truth.

And basing all your purchase requirement based on what some coffee maker reviews or ratings says about it. That is very wrong.

You need a vending machine when it rains... 

When I was growing up, people tend to use snack vending machine or beverage vending machine to meant the same thing -vending machines. But, with the array of stuff that vending machines are dispensing these days, it might not be so apt to call the machines, snack or beverage vending machines...

It is amazing when you can vend out of a machine, can you imagine an umbrella? In fact, in my country, you can even vend mosquitoes patches from a vending machine. Anyway, you would really need a vending machine when it rains the next time round...

Yes, nothing with regards to coffee, but just some random thoughts on vending machines which i saw...

Keurig is going to be the Google of the coffee world! 

These few weeks keurig has been very very busy! First, it has a partnership with cuisinart to make single serve, then last week they formed partnership with Mr Coffee.

Off and on, there are novelties, interesting espresso coffee makers that would grab some market share, but this I doubt would have any impact on keurig growth plan.

This link would bring you to something that is called espresso maker but does not look like your average espresso machine...

It only works with the best, and in Asia, they are working with UCC, the largest roaster in this region. All in, they are doing a very good job in selling the concept of single serve coffee makers.

They did it better than those before them like senseo or nespresso, and even Tassimo that are so innovative are having a hard time catching with this brand.

I suspect this fellow would grow in the coffee market to be as big as Google is to the search engine market...

Come on, there is no such thing as free lunch (or coffee for that matter!).  

As a species, we are extremely suspicious of people and things. Take for example, free coffee offer. Instead of enjoying it, we would tend to think about what the coffee suppliers are up to, why are they giving us free coffee and so on.

The fact is promotion as move on to what is known as permission marketing, the evolution from direct marketing. Companies wants to communicate with you, they want to have direct interaction with you.

And to do all that, they need to first get your permission to reach your mail box or email, thus the "bait" or free gifts.

I do not think that companies bother to scam you with a few packets of coffee or do some ponzi scheme with coffee beans...but the rule of thumb is in a permission marketing setting, they would only ask for ways to contact you.

So, if that is all they do, then you can trust that company and safely take up that free coffee offer...

Most of us ordinary folks just barely make it, the situation has got so back that some of my friends are trying to learn how to make cappuccino at home so that they would save some starbucks money.

They are in the typical situation of having spend a lot of money on education but still cannot find a job.

I guess it is sort of like looking for an oasis, a source of water, we would need to locate and look for that source of income that is meant for us, before that, we just have to stay resilient and be strong...

For those that have ever shop for single serve coffee, you would be amazed, even shocked that there is such an article right? Nespresso machine is definitely not cheap.

Moreover, its capusules is probably one of the more premium types in the market, so can can this author equate low pricing with nespresso. You know what, this article talks about overall long term value.

The truth is, I have heard of so many machines breaking down and stuff, but I have yet to hear of any nespresso machines failing.

Espresso machine the price of a car, no wonder the auto industry need a bailout... 

In case, you are thinking that there are some crazy sales going on in the car industry and some models are selling for hundreds of dollars. No. There is no such sales going on.

What has happened is that there is an espresso machine that cost as much as a small car. Yes, ten of thousands of dollars for an espresso maker.

Indeed, it is crazy and I would think that most of you would not even consider buying it, but if you can definitely read more about it in this espresso machine article.

Before, stumbling upon this article, I thought brands like saeco or delonghi are very expensive. To me, thousands over dollars for a machine that makes coffee is expensive, but some folks are willing to pay ten over thousands dollars for it.

Apparently, the article was trying to make a pitch that the bialetti moka pot is about as good as any espresso machine and should be called a cappuccino machine although if you think about it, it should not even be called a machine.

I tried the bialetti a few times, it is quite good, easy to use and the espresso and cappuccino that came out of it is also pretty good. So, it is a good brewer to use to make gourmet coffee.

Would I buy it? I am still someone that look forward to more automation. So, if you are someone that wants a push button solution, bialetti is not for you.

But, if you are used to brewing stuff, then this is the direct match for you...To sum up, this is a good solution, the only thing is if it can be cheaper...

Cut and paste for some free coffee 

I do not know if any of you have the habit of cutting coupons to save some money on purchases. In Singapore, it is a big culture, my mums. aunties and even me are all actively collecting coupons to save on purchases.

Most of it are supermarket promotion, but some coffee promotion are really cool, with savings on coffee grounds and even machines!

What has a coffee suppliers opening outlets in Dubai help me get free coffee in Singapore? 

I know some of you might think that this is some butterfly effect stuff which I am going to talk about, but it is not. The movement of coffee suppliers is purely economics.

Thus, noting that Nespresso is expanding in Dubai and varios other coffee companies is similarly expanding, we would know that after organic and acquisition phrase is over, they can depend their growth on one thing.

That would be getting new customers. And these days, it is not easy to get new customers. People are flooded with choices, you need to established relationship with them first before they would even buy anything from you -so you need to get consumers first before marketing to them.

There is only one way to get their permission -offer their free stuff. So, my thought is wait and see, coffee suppliers would be giving away many coffee freebies in order to established relationship with new or existing customers in order to grow their business.

SO, coffee suppliers opening outlets does have an impact on you getting your free coffee...

June is a nice time for coffee drinkers and dount lovers! 

It seems that the US has all sorts of holidays, I envy and is very jealous of them. Living in Singapore, working and cramped out in some tiny cubicle, I longed for holidays...

But, miserable me together with 4 plus million folks was only given 14 days of public holidays. So, really look forward for holidays like National Donut day to be make public in Singapore, so what is this holiday about.

It seems that this holiday was started by chicago salvation army to raise funds for some good causes, but it has of course turn into a marketing vehicle for many companies, which is not too bad.

Dunkin dounts for one is giving free donuts this year (2009) on the first friday which is the 5th June. Wonder if the dunkin dount in singapore is doing the same thing.

Anyway, coffee drinkers out there would be thrilled, dounts and coffee being so indispensable, like peas and carrots (using words from Forrest Grump)...so, happy dount day folks!

Would I be cheated? 

I have been shopping online for like a million years that it did not occurs to me that there are folks out there that are still questioning about the safety of shopping online.

Generally, I think the danger of buying online is the same to offline shopping. How often did you monitor what the waiter does while he took your card off to charge at the counter.

He only needs to remember your card details and the code behind to scam you. But, no, nobody thought that is dangerous.

Everyone have the thinking that online with so many mechanisms is so dangerous, what if some bad guys got hold of your information and you are cheated out of millions of dollars.

Strangely, people are buying things that breaks 

Think about it, would you buy something that breaks easily? I doubt so right? Personally, I would not buy any equipment or in fact anything that is fragile and breaks easily.

But, strangely enough, folks do not mind that the coffee carafe of the black and decker breaks easily and is still buying them.

Francis francis machine with illy coffee -superb! 

My choice amongst all the espresso makers? Well, it has to be this iperespresso machine from illy. A single serve coffee maker that uses their own capsules.

So, while most of illy espresso makers are commercial grade, this is one of the them that allows you to brew cafe quality coffee at the comfort of your own home. For more details on this espresso machine, go click on the link.

Here, I would only say how cheap this machine is. We know that illy makes quality stuff, so I would not have to say how good the machine is or how quality the coffee it brews, what caught me is the price.

I would expect such a machine to market at about $500 and I was right, it is supposed to sell at $450, but they are retailing it at $150. With a catch of course.

You have to buy their coffee. But seriously, with its unique capsule system, you would need to buy their coffee anyway right? So, all in, I think it is a good deal, and I hope by the time you read this, the offer still stands...

Cheap or low cost is the order of the day! 

These days, the term that is most often on people lips are low cost, savings and so on. So, and it is even more so when it comes to home appliances like coffee espresso maker.

Do take note that for home appliances, the initial machine savings might not translate to overall long term savings. But, we have discussed that in previous post, so I would not touch much on it.

Over the weekend, someone asked me if it is possible to buy a espresso maker for less than a hundred dollars. I told him that to get machines that are known as espresso maker yes, but to me, it might not be so.

$100 and below so called espresso maker do not have enough pressure to do a good extraction, as they are all steam driven, so you would at most have a long black that is trying to be a coffee espresso. Check out the link for why you should or should not get a $100 and below machine.

It is a matter of perspective, but personally, if it is does not produce a real espresso but is a machine that is within your budget, should you get it?

What machine to use for my home cafe? 

Okay, you wanna have a machine to use for your home cafe. There would be a group of you that just wanna use some espresso makers (well click on the link would take you to articles on it), and I also know that majority like me would want to go for the simplest solution.

Well, most of us would go for single serve coffee maker when it comes to simple solution for home cafe set up, but I decided that it is all too common. What machines am I using?

It is similar to a single serve coffee maker, it does one coffee at a time, very easy to use, no mess and has a very small foot print. In fact, I think it is smaller than a keurig b40, did not really go into measuring it but using naked eyes evaluation, that is my thought.

The only difference is it uses satchets instead of pods, k-cups or t-discs and the like. And it looks very good with its sleek exterior and LCD display.

Cannot stand it, what machine am I talking about, a clue: it is not a nespresso, tassimo, keurig or any of the big brands from single serve coffee maker.

Grounded coffee might be better than whole bean coffee 

Why do I say that? Any coffee folks would tel you that if you want fresh coffee, you would want them grounded minutes before the brew. But, to me the grinding is where many factors can creep in to ruin the coffee.

Think about it, would you be getting a grinder that is better than what starbucks or illy is using? And do you have the expertise and years of knowledge of how to get a good grind?

Most importantly, because they are a brand, they need to maintain it, so you can be assure of their quality control.

Imagine doing it yourself? What do you have? A instruction manual printed from the internet? I think you get the point.

Well, the equation did not change because of my statement, you would still get very fresh coffee when you grind before you brew, but are you willing to invest the time and money into it.

No doubt that in the long run, you would acquire a skill set a grinding good coffee, but unless you are passionate about it, buying sealed packed coffee from reputable company is really a very much easier option.

I do not know if such an adjective exist -freshest, but you get the point. The maximum freshness in a cup of coffee can only be obtained by doing everything yourself.

That means buying the green coffee bean, roasting it, grinding it then brewing it all by oneself. This way, there would be no loss of oxidization due when you roast, heat loss when you grind and of course by the time you brew it, it is superbly fresh. It is worth the effort? well, for everything there is a price to pay, the thing is whether the effort is worth the good coffee. And this is the dividing line between the coffee lovers and the coffee drinkers.

The former would go out to learn and brew the perfect cuppa, the latter would probably loves the single cup coffee maker, easy to use!

To me, this is Good coffee... 

Recently, UTZ certified good inside honoured the IKEA group for using 100% certified and traceable coffee. Personally, I think this is a win win situation for all the stakeholders involved in the coffee industry.

The farmers, the traders, the roasters are all rightfully rewarded for their effort, and with this recognition, I believe Ikea more or less would benefit from such an exposure, thus strengthening their brand name.

So, in a way by paying for the due effort of all its stakeholders, Ikea is paying itself, with more customers and a better corporate image.

That is really a good cup of coffee, it helps the farmers earn more money and other stakeholder and also ultimately the company as well...

An espresso machine the size of a ruler? 

No, this is not a title to "lure" you into reading my content, there is really an espresso machine that is approximately the size of a long ruler!

This is probably the cutest coffee machine reviews that I have ever done, lo and behold -Handpresso wild. The link provides more information on the handpresso wild...

They have two models now, one using the e.s.e pods and one using ground coffee to brew espresso. There is not much feedback about the latter (and the company have not give me any machines to try), so I would just talk about the first one...

For those that know about e.s.e pods, it is widely used for the single serve coffee maker industry. In fact, there are probably only a couple of brands that are not using it, such as nespresso, keurig, tassimo, senseo...

So, buying the refills for this handpresso wild is a breeze, and you do not have to worry about the variety. The feedback so far about the extraction is good.

The fact is, when one is using an e.s.e pod, everything is already pre-set, so long as the water pressue is good, the coffee cannot go wrong. And according to feedback and their website, this fellow can deliver a 16 bar pressure extraction -mean huh?

My only concern is the water temperature, I suspect that there might be some heat loss during the transfer of hot water, but I guess as time goes by, one would know how to adjust the water temperature (maybe boiling or just after boiling) to suit the context of this brewing device.

What is the biggest plus about using the handpresso wild? Well, when out in the wild or anywhere else, you can avoid instant coffee, and lousy coffee, and drink your favorite blend -that is one big plus, don't you think so?

The 80-20 of the coffee world 

Most of you would probably have heard of the 80-20 rule. That is 80% of your result would come from 20% of your effort. I think this is so true. Even in the coffee world, it stands true.

I was just researching on drip coffee maker, when I read about this article about joe dimaggio. For those that do not read sports, Joe was and perhaps I should use "is" the greatest baseball player of all time. Click on the link to read about Joe relationship with drip filter coffee machine.

In summary, this article talks about how Joe single handedly raised the profile of coffee brewing and bring about a growth of coffee machines. Before he endorse this product, coffee machines was being used, but not that popular.

But, after he came in, coffee makers became the staple of every family. It is like your fridge or TV, if you are starting a family, you need to have the essential appliances, and coffee maker is one of them.

You can say that this is the power of marketing, then again, you mean before 1970's, no company was doing any promotion or marketing? Is the Mr Coffee the only company that thought of doing this sort of PR activity?

I doubt so. I choose to think that amidst so many PR and marketing activity, this is the one that is successful, and one is all it takes to propel the entire market.

Come to think of it, if you look at the recent event, it does not take many companies to collapse the whole economy -just one Lehman Brothers. It did not take many people to start a whole world panic on swine flu, just a little boy from Mexico.

So, 80-20 is just so true right? Yeah, I am saying that Joe DiMaggio is the 20% that has accounted for the 80% growth of the coffee market. one can only think how much money Mr COffee has make from this venture...

I know this is a strong statement, but I cannot help it. Here is the situation, you purchased a ge coffee maker say a 169103, the coffee maker with a grinder. And you are a very rough user, so somehow you broke the carafe -guess what, you would have to throw the whole coffee maker away!

You would think, why not just get a replacement carafe right? Well, that is the same idea I have, but no, they do not have replacement carafe for this particular model!

The truth is, ge coffee maker is not very expensive, so it could be consider to be a good value purchase, but without replacement parts, it could be more expensive than many other higher priced coffee machines.

To say that I was shocked, is really an understatement. Replacement parts is such a good source of income, that I am puzzled why GE did not even bother to stock them?

Anyway, you can consider this to be probably a slightly more negative review (I usually try to balance it off with some good remarks). If the design of the coffee machine is not that good, it would usually compliment it back with some other value, but when the business model of the company is unsound, the fault is entirely on the company.

The bottom line is, there is nothing fundamentally wrong with the coffee maker from ge, at least not from my research, but this business division might be having some problem, to left out such an important piece of process.

Anyway, until they sort out this issue, it would be best to consider other coffee makers, and save yourself the unnecessary stress, don't you agree?

Is Black and Decker the only undercounter coffee maker? 

For those of us that are in the know, when people talk about undercounter coffee maker, we would immediately think about black and decker space maker coffee machine.

The fact is, black and decker is so well known for this make of machine, that I find it hard to think of any other coffee machines that it has (of course, it has many but I am saying that this under counter coffee maker probably make it the most money!).

But, I am not talking about this black and decker machine, I do not know if any of you has heard of brewmatic, but their stainless steel 12 cup coffee maker is under cabinet and is a pretty mean brewing machine.

Some of you would be shocked that I am recommending such a high priced machine, so far most of my recommendation are reasonably priced coffee makers, but to me this machine is good value.

Firstly, this machine with its unique brewing system does good coffee. And it simple dial allows you to choose the cups you want to brew, reducing wastage. Thus, saving you money.

Then, their internal parts all comes from certified sources, which meant that this is a coffee machine that would probably last you more than 5 years. Think about it, how many electrical appliances you purchased these days, can last so many years?

I like the brewmatic coffee maker because of its best value and although it is much more higher priced than black and decker, in the long run, I think it would return your investment many times...

Do you know what keurig stands for? 

I was just doing some research on coffee makers as I always do, I stumbled upon the meaning of keurig. For those that are new to the coffee world, keurig is a very popular single serve coffee maker.

Anyway, I always thought that keurig is just another great sounding brand like Braun, Bunn and what have you. But wait, there is actually a meaning to this Keuig and in another language, Dutch, it meant Execllence.

Come to think of it, if you track the growth of keurig, it is nothing short of that. They literally started from scratch and grew into a coffee giant. Even though they are up against some of the more established names in the industry such as Nestle with their nespresso or the DOuwe Egberts with their Senseo, keurig just grew bigger.

For this article, I was not about to talk about coffee grinders, but the portion of the grinder fascinate me so much that I decided to use it as a talking point.

I doubt many people have seen such a grinder right? In fact, I do not think that the market is offering such stand along grinder. This grinder is actually part of the saeco coffee maker, primea touch plus.

Now, the beauty of having ceramic blades instead of metal ones is the lower heat that would be generated. The lesser heat your grinding operation, the more flavor your coffee beans would be able to retain.

What is this coffee burr grinder all about? 

Before you start to read this about the coffee burr grinder, you have to know why people wants to grind their coffee, it all boils down to one word -freshness.

And it is very easy to use, simply insert the coffee pods (K-cups in the case of keurig), press a button and you get to drink your cuppa. Everything is preset so that your coffee would definitely be tasty, there is no room for error.

Variety is another factor that has make keurig so popular, I do not know if it matters to coffee lovers like yourself, personally, I love variety and is happy to know that I can be drinking starbucks one day and the next day be sipping tea from twinnings.

Coffee not brewed it is good coffee? 

This might come as a surprise to some of you that there is a huge following for a coffee that does not need to be brewed. That is toddy coffee maker cold brew coffee. Although, initially started as a cold coffee, nowadays, many folks are adding water to the coffee concentrate to make it into regular coffee.

Personally, I can taste no difference between toddy and any drip coffee, although I must say that when it comes to espresso, toddy coffee profile pales in comparison.

That being said, toddy is still very much easier to prepare than espresso and even drip filter coffee. All you need to do is to add in the coffee grounds and water then wait. Now, this is a coffee brewer that cannot brew in ten minutes or even 1 hour. You have to wait for at least 12 hours before you can filter out the coffee concentrate to enjoy the coffee.

So, time is what you need to savour this coffee, but time is also all you need, as there is no need for any other things to get this coffee...

This might not be anything new to some of you but for those that are using single cup coffee maker and has been thinking about the code -it has been broken! The code of course refers to the ability to use any types of coffee on the single cup coffee machines.

What is the one thing that affects your coffee? We asked if it is the coffee makers, or the person making the coffee? It is both. But the latter is definitely more important than the latter.

About the differences between coffee maker and the person making the coffee, why do we say that the person is more important?

Well, this is because, we all know that it is possible to brew coffee without any coffee makers, but it is not possible for a good coffee to come out from a coffee maker without anyone brewing it.

Even if it is a single serve coffee maker, you still someone to be brewing it, isn't that so?

In South-East Asia, people drink coffee brewed from coffee socks, all done without the need for any coffee makers, without the use of any coffee machines, and we are not talking about those pop and mum stores.

Then, he also noted that reviews and evaluation is fast becoming an unofficial advertisement platform. Companies are getting experts and gurus to review their products in hope that YOU as consumer would want to follow their taste profile and purchase the machine.

ANd that is the way we have become, following the expert and adopting other people taste profile as our own. In short, living in the shadow of others. This is also another reason why this author do not endorse coffee maker reviews.

Would good coffee makers gives you good coffee? 

Sure, there would be this or that cafe that gives great espresso. Unfortunately, it is difficult to get that experience back home when entertaining your guests.

Hey folks, this term "best coffee maker" is difficult to define. Let me give you an example, if you are used to drinking coffee from a single serve coffee maker then suddenly someone comes along and rave about how good bunn drip coffee maker can brew good coffee, would the bunn be the best coffee maker?

So, am I right to say that for the single coffee drinker, they would have their own best and similarly for the drip coffee drinker. The thing is, it is a matter of perspective and things would get even more complicated when you bring in more variables.

As the world gets more connected and subsequently smaller, we know that there are millions of people all over the world that enjoys coffee. (Fact: Coffee remains the second most traded commodity even with the changes in eating and drinking pattern)

But, the way that they enjoy the beverage is very different. For example, in the west, we all know that coffee is best taken neat. Whereas in South East Asia, people likes to drink their coffee with sweeten condensed milk. Then, somewhere in North ASia, Mongolia, the folks drink their coffee with salt.

Now, how would the benchmark for best coffee be to these 3 groups of folks? To make it even more complicated, not all them are using Bunn, Tassimo or even the very sleek francisfrancis. In fact, a large part of the coffee drinkers have never used a coffee maker before.

Surprising fact huh? What you saw in this picture beside is how folks in South East Asia makes their coffee, they call this "coffee tarik" or pull coffee, the finished product would have froth similar to a cappuccino but it is not 1/3 espresso, 1/3 milk, 1/3 froth. For this coffee tarik, it is simply, coffee with sweetened condensed milk.

Again, you would have note that while coffee is a very enjoyed beverage, the way they brew it, the way it is enjoyed is very different around the world. However, one thing remains constant -people loves coffee, which can only meant that there is a best coffee to all of them.

And, that is what we are going to find out! This is never a lens about which coffee maker makes better coffee, however, it should be how to find that great coffee.

Just some more blurring about coffee makers. Since I am consider sort of an expert in coffee, people come to me for "caffeine" matters. It ranges from how to make a good coffee to when their child should be drinking coffee.

And I can safely say that at any of this sort of Q&A, they bound to be a guy that asked me opinions on the best coffee maker.

Sure, everyone is interested to get a coffee maker that is the greatest and hopefully the most cost effective, however, I must say that the search would always be on going.

As technology improves, there would be better coffee maker coming out, so if your focus is on getting that best coffee machine, you probably would not reach that goal.

This coffee has been the staple coffee for at least 3 generations of folks in Singapore, the Chinese, the malays and the indians all drink from it.

Many of these folks cannot go through a day if they are without this coffee. Sounds like a great coffee right?

Did anyone ever thought about this?  

Come on, please do not tell me that nobody has ever thought about this -we could run out of coffee!

In the first place, who have ever thought that we would run short on rice? Now, with escalating price, everyone is producing rice.

Then, there are the many farmers that are already farming alternative fuels due to high oil prices.

So, what if the coffee folks decided to plant either of this, and the coffee crops get lesser. They might not be a total no coffee situation.

It might be worse, paying best coffee pricing for sub-standard coffee! Can anyone of you imagine paying Kopi Lupwak coffee pricing for a indonesian robusta?

Well, that might happen and looking at the over consumption that we are having, it might happen very soon...

How many types of espresso maker are there? 

Have you ever thought about how many types of espresso makers are there? The truth is there are too many...

Recently, I saw an article that break it down simply and logically. There are 2 categories and 5 main types of espresso makers.

The 2 categories are those using electricity and those that do not.

Non electrical
In this category, there are 2 main types, the moka pots and the neapolitan brewers. Both brewers uses stove fire and according to the writer, these are the only 2 that do not uses electricity.

Electrical espresso maker

Then of course, there are all other espresso maker that uses electricity. The 3 main types are the

a. Piston espresso maker -the most famous of this is the La Pavoni espresso machine. You need lots of biceps power to get a good brew

b. Steam power -coffee lovers usually shun this espresso maker as they feels that the pressure given by the steam is not enough and does not do a good espresso.

This espresso machine is cheaper in terms of cost than the pump espresso machines.

c. Pump Espresso maker -this is where you get your automatic, super automatic espresso machines. With a pump driven motor, these espresso machine produces good pressure to extract the coffee essence and is also strong enough to froth milk for the many milk based gourmet coffees.

Can vending machines still make money? 

After reading this lens, some folks asked me if I know about the vending machines business and whether it is a good side income, if it would still be profitable.

The answer is this, if you are doing it alone or with a few friends, yes, it would still be making you a good income if the location and negotiation is done correctly.

However, if you asked any big companies, i.e. Coke or Atlas vending, they would tell you that this is segment of business that is bleeding them dry!

Why would that be the case right? If, they are enjoying better cost savings, how can a more efficient model under a bigger company be losing money.

This is my personally thought: Well, there are many executives that are sitting around and attending meetings to "grow the business".

Whereas, for the small companies, everyone is working hard, no one is sitting around! So, there you have it, vending machines still make money unless you are in the big companies, which any case, they are paying you money to attend meetings, so not too bad on that huh!

Have you heard about coffee pods? If you are into coffee and loves your coffee, then you would probably have heard of single serve coffee makers, and the "bullets" that are supposed to be used on it.

These coffee pods are superbly simple to use. All you need to do is to add in the coffee pods, press a button and then enjoy a cup of fresh coffee.

While coffee pods have been used as a generic name, that used to meant coffee pods, t-disc and k-cups, coffee pods actually meant e.s.e pods.

They are the first generation single serve coffee makers' coffee "bullets" and are given the name coffee pods.

Yes! Do you think that guy is crazy or what to be spending this amount of fortunate on coffee grinders? And worse, spending one thousand dollars that cannot even grind!

Maybe to be fair, they probably could not bear to use this grinder to grind anything at all. This is an arcade coffee grinder, something that is produced in the early 1900's.

For coffee lovers, this is their antique cars. So, the amount they spend on this fellow is really perceived value, not a real time value.

Braun coffee maker big launch in September? 

...you have got it wrong!

This is just to set the record straight. The year and month is 28th July 2008 and as some coffee lovers might know, September is going to have a big launch of a Tassimo, and many thought it is a braun coffee maker. This link would bring you to the some real braun coffee maker...

They are all mistaken! Yes, the first Tassimo is by Braun but this new one is make by Bosch. I do not know how this arrangement comes about, but apparently, many people is looking forward to owning this coffee machine.

It might be worth checking out, depending on the budget that you have, and is not like a Clover where you got to pay 5 figures for it, it is merely in the early hundreds.
