is this a joke. the character development is infinitely better in one piece. not a single character in bleach can come even close to the backstories of robin, zoro, nami, or chopper, and the personalities of luffy, zoro, robin, sanji, and chopper are so much more developed. ichigo is the shittiest character he has no personality. Its sad when the main character is outclassed personality and history-wise by minor characters such as grimmjow, urahara, and even shinji. Kon may even be a more developed character than ichigo. And this is just character wise. I agree bleach has some sick fight scenes but its just the same thing over and over. One piece fight scenes are better and the plot line is way more engaging. Other than 2 or 3 arcs, Bleach is absolute trash.

I would have to say One Piece on this one - has much more potential; this is manifested in various ways but I will refrain from pointing them out. There are aspects of Bleach, though, which are clearly superior (.e.g. artwork), but One Piece is "put together" much, much better...

I'm going to TRY to keep this short. One Piece is by far FARR the best, not even just compared to bleach, which I'm sorry, I just find to be crap...The complex plotline that is somehow made to seem simple if you dont think about it in detail is really impressive, NO plot holes whatsoever, even with so freaking much happening and being so long and complex.
One Piece characters are also beyond exceptional, They are ALL so incredibly developed and fit in in all ways when they are introduced, they dont come out of nowhere, you are told just enough about them, and then they develop and add to the the story as it progresses. And you can get so amazingly attached to them, so much that it literally hurts when they are hurt. And you can feel such amazing hate towards them, you just want whoever Oda wants you to feel this way about to be caused such incredible pain, you want to see horrible horrible things happen to them, and then see them die slowly. I must say, definitely at pretty much the very top, some of hte most pleasurable things I have ever felt in my life are when the Strawhats are so happy and achieve such wonderful goals, and when Luffy succeeds in beating the crap out of those horrible people who you just want so badly to f*cking die, gawd its seriously just so satisfying.
The battles are so immensely amazing too, not only because of the physical fighting-- which is also more amazing than any other anime I've seen, I mean, most things have such simple fighting, similar weapons and techniques, without backing up at all why all of the attacks work either! But because of all the emotions and complex plots and reasons for fighting add so much that nothing can beat those fights.
The emotions are so incredible. It's not even-- UGH, you just can't explain them at all, and not everyone feels them for One Piece, but those of us that do, we know there is nothing comparable. It makes you so happy that you can just keep laughing for so long, even after pausing it for laugh time~ It can also make you so happy that your head is just like in this place of extreme bliss, this feeling though I can't really explain at all... I didn;t understand how one could cry from happiness before watching One Piece either, it just made no sense...but let me tell you, i cried and laughed from joy and such happiness so many times during One Piece, like when seeing Ace alive during the Alabasta arc when rewatching, and seeing them get to the red line, and sky island all for the second time. But it can also make you cry so hard, you feel so immensely pained, it hurts so badly, Ace, Merry. It also makes you feel fear, and such incredibly anger, I've never been more angry/furious than at certain One Piece characters. I didn;t even understand what empathy really meant before watching One Piece, I mean, it just makes you feel so many emotions, and none get in the way of others. SOOOOO many, you can't even control which ones either, just sooooooooo many. Guuh, even just looking at the main characters being happy in any random picture can make you experience such joy >

Bleach is so generic. But the characters and locations are so diverse, and all of the new villains of each arc get more intimidating with each passing one. The plot and character development is astounding. You can tell that Oda doesn't sacrifice plot for action, and the action more memorable than Bleach. By far the superior.

why is one piece not like the other 2? well , i actualy have 5 favorite manga the 3 mentioned, dragon ball and death note , so i would compare one piece to dragon ball (z) , the powers dont get much explenation , they just are wath they are , a clear image of good and evil , some bad guys turn good , take some magic and fantasy and put it al on a plate and cover evrything in a sauce of humor and rediculous characters in rediculous situations and its a big pile of awesomeness , thats why one piece and dragon ball is like one another , also the characters resemble eachother , luffy and goku , krillin and ussopp, nami and bulma , and so on and on , death note is an outsider , its unique and more mature and perhaps not even meant for manga but rather a grownup graffic novel , and then there are bleach and naruto , they are alike in many ways , the basic idea of traditional japanese warriors , naruto ninja , bleach samurai , japanese mythology and such , but also the story is alike , both have a central good guy base , naruto hidden leaf (alied shinobi force), bleach (soul society , sereitei) , both have a bad guy orgaisation that was originally a part of the good guys , naruto ( akatsuki/orichimarus group),bleach(the espada, the aranchars), this whole idea makes the border between good and evil very thin , actualy no one is good and no one is evil , evry person fights for themselves and there own hopes, dreams and loved ones , in both manga there arent any pure evil beings , the characters are actually very human , they al have a good and a bad habbit, for example tsunade has a drinking/gambling problem while she is the leader of the hidden leaf , kenpachi is a blood thirsty murderer yet he is a good guy , they there is the complex fighting/naturedefying stuf , chakra and reiatsu as spritual enrgy that gives the character inhuman power ,there are somany things a like and i like both manga very very much and they are a huge inspiration for me , as i am writhing a manga myself , the only thing i lack is humor , wich i have tough , but my humor would be more fit for dragon ball or one piece .

Naruto kind of blows... I don't know why anyone is calling it intelligent or intellectual... It's stupid and the dialogue is so terrible in part 2 (shippuuden)... It's overly sentimental and sappy that it makes me cringe and the so-called "twists and turns" in the story-line make me want to scream out bullshit because of how stupid it is. Naruto would be better if it didn't over accentuate all the emotional bullshit. Also sharingan is incredibly dumb in the manga. How exactly does an eye connect with the power to teleport or summon a giant ghost warrior. I thought Part 1 of naurto was amazing and entertaining but shippuuden is just way more tedious with the dialogue and such.

I used to like Naruto more when i was like, 12, and followed every other kid who thought about only Naruto when anime was mentioned. But since I rediscovered One Piece (the 4kids dub is what turned me off), I regret not rediscovering sooner. It is so crazily better than Naruto in so many ways. - ONE PIECE all the way! All though Naruto has some good things, too. I check things out at random times, but then I get bored. No offence, I don't like this chasing Sasuke part. They're friends but..nvm. And Bleach was good in the first few arc/s.
One piece's graphics is not as good as the other two, but I promise it gets better. It even has a semi-3d opening at the sunny go part. And OP's art is bad? whhaaat? OP's artwork is AWESOME. Maybe not very HUMAN-LIKE unlike the other two. BUt that's the point. It's one of the great things in OP. It has characters that do not resemble each other very much (unlike some OTHER mangas/animes out there)in short, different characters. OP runs in a very diverse world..fishmen, humans, monsters, zombie, cyborgs, animals, it has it all. You probably think that it's very childish..well it is a series for kids. And because it's awesome and the plot is simple yet so complex (idk how to explain this), even adults like me are dragged into this. I love it. The story is made so that it is easier to understand esp for the kids (especially the Anime..mangas has some violent parts) but it has a more deeper meaning into it that adults can relate or understand. But above all things, the things I like about OP are the comedy and the friendship (otherwise known as, Nakama-ship). It never fails to make my day. Oda is a genius, I should say. He plans things really carefully and then comes up with awesome ideas that make the whole series epic.
People have different opinions...but I'm glad a LOT of people agree with me about OP being better than Naruto and Bleach.
My advise to all who hates OP and insult it or us fans, read the manga or the anime from the start and don't stop until you reach at least the introduction to the New World. It might change your opinions. MIGHT.

- I could go into an in-depth analysis about characterization, plot development, underlying themes, fight choreography, et cetera et cetera ad nauseum, but I think that in the end, it really just boils down to which series is more fun to read and leaves me with the best feeling.
When I read Naruto, I read it to find out what happens next. That's it. I want to see the bad guys beaten down, see pseudo-Madara and Kabuto get their just desserts for all the shit they've pulled. I don't feel strongly for any of the characters anymore, and I know that there's no way Naruto's ever gonna lose a fight, so it's sorta like I keep reading out of simple habit.
When I read Bleach, I don't read it for the plot anymore, because honestly, after Flutterzen and the Fullbringers, I've given up trying to make heads or tails of it. Now, I just read it for the brilliant fight scenes, the pretty characters (I still love Kubo's artstyle), and because the latest arc looks like it might be better than the last.
When I read One Piece though, I read it because it's FUN TO READ. I know that there's no guarentee the main characters win, so there's still a sense of tension. I love watching them fight all the same because that universe runs on nakamaship and hotbloodness, which just makes everything that much more badass. The places they visit are always new and interesting. I honestly wish I could be on the ship with the Strawhats, visiting all the exotic places they do. And Oda has made me genuinely care for these characters and all their quirks - hell, I bawled over Luffy's fight with Usopp, I bawled over the going merry, I sobbed uncontrollably as Luffy lost his Nakama one by one in Sabody, and manly tears were shed when he remembered them again after losing Ace. One Piece is a world where the characters - even the antagonists - are as awesome as all of us wish we were, and do all the things we only wish we could do in real life. There's freedom, there's adventure, and more than anything, there's the best damn friendship I've seen in anime - watching One Piece just makes me grin like an idiot.
One Piece, hands down. I don't even care if I'm not being objective anymore.

- For me... One Piece! I've watched all three anime and they're all pretty awesome. Naruto started out amazing and only got a bit dull during the fillers. Still, it was awesome. Bleach, for me had the best begining. It was action packed and the story never lacked anything. Although, after watching more and more of it, it goes downhill. Awesome without the fillers though. One Piece had the worst begining ever. I don't know for what reason but I kept watching it. After I watched more and more, it became better and better.The first 30 episodes are really lame but after that it's the best! Soon. it became really awesome with an amazing story and little fillers. It bacame the best!

Let's face it - keeping the story for these long runner manga/anime interesting is next to impossible. Naruto's done a pretty good job in keeping its plot moving forward. Even if some of the details make NO sense whatsoever (I draw the line at resurrecting every dead character ever and revealing summoning uber-demons out of the moon, thank you very much), Kishimoto still does a good job following through on all the mysteries he's set up and exploring all the gritty corners of his story's world. Lots of stuff was foreshadowed - Naruto's parents, the Uchiha/Senju feud, the Bijuu - and a good story always keeps its readers guessing, and I could go on and on about Naruto theories for hours.
That being said, I still cede this debate to One Piece. The problem with Naruto is that Kishimoto has started undermining so much of what made Naruto great. Character deaths used to be a huge thing, but then we get Pein versus Konoha where everyone gets revived, and character death gets reduced to a cheap gimmick for shock and horror. Hard work used to be a major theme, but then Naruto gets a thousand shadow clones to increase his training speed a thousand-fold. Friendship and teamwork used to be a big thing too, but now it feels like Naruto does almost all the major fighting while his friends just cheer from the sidelines.
A twisty plot only works if you make the twists meaningful and make the readers care.
Now let's look at One Piece. Honestly, the nature of One Piece forces me to set the bar lower, so there's some inherent bias here. It's more humorous than serious, in a world that clearly runs on nonsense, and since the main characters bounce from island to island, there really doesn't have to be any consistent setting for the story to stick to. Basically, it's the perfect set-up for the author to be as lazy as hell and just throw together disconnected episodes at whim, without any care for continuity or plot.
But Oda does the exact opposite. Now that I've finally caught up to the latest episode and started rewatching it from the beginning again, I find my jaw hitting the floor at how much stuff was hinted at or set-up in advance. That running joke started way back in Season 1 about getting a musician? Cue four-hundred episodes later, enter Brooke. That silly misspelled tattoo 'ASCE' with the 'S' crossed out on Ace's arm? Cue the reveal of Sabo, their third sworn brother, whose pirate flag was an 'S' with crossbones. All of the humorous damage the Going Merry accumulated over the course of their adventures, and the lighthearted jabs at how much Usopp sucked at repairs? All builds up to one of the gut-wrenching face-heel turns in the series, which in turn leads to some of the saddest and most heartwarming scenes I've ever seen. This series doesn't need to have continuity and coherency, but Oda goes above and beyond even his fellow, more serious manga authors, and One Piece comes together in ways that you would never have expected but seem blatantly obvious in hindsight.
When I read Naruto, I feel like I'm watching from the sidelines just like the rest of the cast when Naruto fights. It's just the way the plot goes - in the end, the world ends up revolving around Naruto and his actions, whether due to the Kyuubi or due to his unique ability to draw people to him, and there's nothing wrong with that, especially in Shonen manga. Become stronger, fight against a great evil, save the world, become a hero - it's great, it works, but now I'm realizing that it's a bit too distant and impersonal.
But in One Piece, our characters are selfish, and realistically so. The Straw Hats mow down thousands of marines and declare war on the government to get one of their own back. Luffy sets a bunch of dangerous criminals loose on the world just to rescue his brother, something no hero of justice will ever do. The Straw Hats fight together, not because of some common goal they're all pursuing, but because they're friends and friends watch each other's backs.
That's what I love about One Piece. That's what I think Naruto needs more of. Good storytelling is all about making the characters come alive.

As a child I have always enjoyed Naruto, I read the manga watched the anime, the action was good, the scenes were intense and symbolic. Naruto really teaches you the importance of this life and the decisions we make as people, how we are affected by each others actions and how we react for the better or worse. It shows our nature as humans, how we cherish friendship, and do what we can to hold on to it. It shows self worth and how to stay strong even in very tough emotional situations, to be strong not for yourself, but for those around you. How you realize how close you are with someone after their death and how you have to cope with the death of a loved one. How not to kill someone you hate, instead show them the way.

I started reading One piece just last year and completely enjoyed way more than Naruto. I used to think One Piece was a stupid story about pirates, then i tried it one day, and loved it.
I was a huge Naruto fan then i tried One Piece and loved it, so don't shoot down One Piece until you have read or watched it (not the 4kids dub)

It really depends on what Ichigo still has access to after the whole Fullbring arc. Without his hollow mask, I don't think he stands a chance against post-time skip Luffy simply due to the difference in speed and destructive capability - base form Ichigo probably can't break through post-time skip Luffy's busoshoku Haki.
With everything he's shown in canon at his disposal (barring H2 Ichigo, which was broken and nonsensical in so many ways), Ichigo should take this - Luffy's weak to cutting attacks, and both Mugetsu and Getsuga Tensho happens to be majorly speed and power boosted cutting attacks.
Based on the outskirts battledome speed calculations, both characters are somewhere in the hypersonic range, so neither of them should be getting blitzed. Bankai Ichigo's shunpo is somewhere in the same ballpark as Gear Second Luffy. I'm going to just say that Haki and Reiatsu balance each other out as well, because it's not fair to say 'lawl reiatsu crush' or 'lawl Haki knockout'. Luffy's been shown to tank up to tank up to small city-block level attacks (I'm thinking of the Oars fight in Thriller Bark), while Mugetsu is on a mountain/city-wide scale, possibly higher. Meanwhile, Luffy's biggest attack is a city-buster (I'm thinking his elephant gatling when he tried to smash Noah's Arc), and Ichigo's tanked attacks of that level when fighting Aizen. So with speed equalized and all canon powers at their disposal, I'd give this to Ichigo in all fairness.
Still, we don't know what Ichigo's current powers are in canon, or if he's still able to use Mugetsu at all anymore, and Haki might not equalize to reiatsu the way I think it does (never seen reiatsu knock out 50,000 soldiers in one shot), so this really could go either way.

It think that One Piece in general is much better than Naruto, I mean Naruto does have some good points, but One Piece is just a much better than Naruto in the Shonen Genre. The humour in One piece feels so much more natural and it's what you'd expect from the character, each person brings his own unique humour into the crew, whereas in Naruto and many other series all the people always pull the same stupid face and it just seems forced and it's only there because they need some humour in it to fit the genre. In terms of fight scenes, I think that the fight scenes in Naruto is cooler at the beginning, but towards the newer one it's just so over the top like bringing every dead person back to life? wtf? I do enjoy Naruto getting stronger over the series but for other characters especially sasuke they just seems over powered. In One Piece though i enjoy all the fight scenes, not just cause of the moves and all that but it's how the story builds up and you end up hating the main villian so much that when Luffy kicks the sh*t out of them it's just the most satisfying thing ever. A feeling that i can't get from Naruto. And in terms of Story line and drama i'm going to have to disagree with you here. The storyline in One Piece is WAAAAAYY more deep and sophisticated that Naruto. An example of this is the Skypiea Arc (my favourite) which just ties everything so beautifully in the end, there's pirates searching for treasure, Robin finding her life's purpose again, the shadian's getting their homeland back, the philosophy of god, The square head guy and man's romance. Just everything tied up together with the ringing of the bell it's so beautiful. All that's deep in Naruto is wars and how people dies and stuff. Plus the story just focuses on Sasuke to much, everytime i see him i just want to kick him in the teeth

#1. Less annoying
#2. Characters are old enough to fight...unlike Naruto whom are 10 yrs old.
#3. Characters are better designed.
#4. Music is better.
#5. Story line is more intriguing than Naruto.
#6. There are also ninja's in Bleach (Hisagi and Soi Fon xD hahaha)
#7. Humor is awesome in Bleach.
#8. The games on PSP and NDS are a lot better for Bleach rather than Naruto

Anyone can list off a bunch of literary terms - doesn't benefit anyone if you can't elaborate. You've made your points, now explain how Bleach is a better Manga overall. The statistics don't lie, One Piece is crushing Bleach in both sales and popularity. Sounds to me like someone is extremely subjective and bitter.

Regardless of the story itself, which I think too many voters are still basing off that for Best Artwork, I don't understand how One Piece can be winning Best Artwork. Compared to Bleach and Naruto, it looks like it was draw by a five year old. All of the One Piece characters look goofy and childish.
IMHO, a lot of the people voting for these are probably younger teens, which is clearly the target audience for Naruto and One Piece, while Bleach has a much more mature theme to it than the others and is meant for older teenagers.

I have to agree with the others. Bleach focusses more on the characters and the fight rather than the insignificant details of the background which- if too extravigant like OnePiece crap- takes away from the seriousness of the battle or moment. Who want's to see how many stalks of grass you can fit behind a character in full psycho-crazy-power mode? Its uneccesary and crude at best. It means the creator spent more time of the scenery than the battle. Bah. Bleach FTW

Terrible storytelling.
Overarching plot being really an incomplete bunch of threads being pulled by Oda.
Half-baked world.
"Deep" flat characters.
Spoonfed character development.
Boring progression.
Dull drama.
Forced emotions.
Unfunny, obnoxious and overused jokes and faces.
Static, generic action.
No originality.
"Unique" rushed art with no soul, incapable of representing more than raw emotions, with a hundred little worthless details drawn in the background.
A horrendous, overly arrogant fanbase.
Bleach wins.
