I love painting on rocks as well. I also have a love for flowers and the outdoors. I have a favorite teacher too,...Donna Dewberry. Therefore, I started painting the one-stroke method for painting flowers, only I do this on rocks. I have painted over 400 rocks to date and don't plan on stopping there. Keep up your GREAT work. Love you rock art work.

i am speechless. yesterday on my way home from the post office, i stumbled upon a small shiny egg-like brown rock but it is only half in shape. i wanted to throw it away but i took it home and put it aside. now, i know what i am going to do with it. thank you for sharing this wonderful lens. you deserve a purple star for this.

Your painting ROCKS - and your rock paintings are wonderful. I love the detail on the animal rocks so much. I have a rabbit shaped rock in my garden, but it's unpainted. I also collect egg shaped and heart shaped rocks. Perhaps I should try a small rock painting - thanks for the inspiration! Blessed and thumbed up.
  • ellagis Oct 7, 2011 @ 4:10 pm | delete
Wow, you're really talented, I love your paintings! I have a little painted rock, it's an owl and it has been glued on a piece of old wood, found on a beach on Canada. I like it because everything, in it, reminds me old, wise beings, like the owl and an old tree.

when we lived in Lutsen and Grand Marais, on the shores of Lake Superior and on the Gunflint Trail back in the 60's, early 70's, mom used to glue felt and beads to flat round rocks, paint them like turtles.. pretty tame in comparison to your cool rocks. I like yours very much! You inspire me!
  • KimGiancaterino Jul 5, 2011 @ 8:03 pm | delete
I'm in awe of your talent! I have a small rock painted like a turtle and a larger one painted like a Siamese cat. I bought both of them directly from the artists. I love your raccoon -- reminds me of our backyard (especially now with Mama and her 4 babies in tow).

These are absolutely lovely and so creative and unique! I love rocks - so inevitably I have painted on them, too. I used to be a member of a website called "Found Art". I would paint small pieces of flat slate that are so common in the bottom of the Arkansas River where I lived at the time - then sign and leave them around to be found. It was fun. I've done a few larger ones but slate is not only heavy - but extremely fragile. You've got me all inspired to start doing it again!

I love your rock art! Some years ago I came across a set of Rock Stars on Rocks, and thought they were some of the coolest things I'd ever seen (The first set I saw was "Kiss Rocks," with each rock painted like one of the painted members of the band "Kiss.") Your rock paintings are absolutely beautiful. Do you have a web site that promotes this passion of yours?

These are awesome! My mom used to make these, before the internet was big to sell online and they didn't seem to do well locally. Hers were more 'cutesy' though, these ones are amazing. The details on the smaller rocks look crazy as well. Very awesome, wish I had half that talent

Oh My gosh! I am so in love with your rock mini paintings! they are simply so beautiful and so unique. As you probably know... :) I have two store locations in San Diego which are gallery like stores featuring a fun variety of fun and unique home products and I would love to feature few of your rock pieces. Specially the door weights the 3" to 4"!!! I was wondering if you would consider using Priority boxes for shipping USPS as the flat rates really help with the weight and I wonder if you are interested in selling then so I can showcase then for resell. I am so amazed by their beauty and at the amount of detail you give each little piece and I think they will do really well! Let me know.
    All my best, Michelle

These are so wonderful. When we were kids, my mom taught my sis and I to look for unusual-shaped rocks. We would glue "heads" onto "bodies" to make little yellow ducks or long dachshunds! An easy one for a beginner is a ladybug - just paint it on an oval rock! Fun!
  • Meloramus Sep 19, 2010 @ 3:27 pm | delete

Oh my, the animals on the rocks look so real! What a great talent you have, and your husband was right, you were selling them much too cheaply. I used to find rocks as a kid and spray lacquer on them to make the pattern show up. Then I sold them as paperweights in my parents rock shop. But my rocks can't even compare with the beauty of yours. What a wonderful gift.

Great lens Dee and I love the artwork. Most rock painting that I have seen before has mainly been abstract, nothing like the intricate painting that you do.
By the way, love the guestbook title and will add it to my collection :)

I have been fascinated by type of things one can do on a rock. Art is one form which is present every around us. It’s an awesome you have here.
  • ShirlW Apr 2, 2010 @ 10:34 am | delete
Like all of your lenses, this one is unique and very well done.

Your rock art brought back a forgotten memory for me. When my son was about four (he's almost 17 now) we had an drainage area around our patio that was all rocks. We painted many of them with a variety of designs, flowers, silly faces, etc. and called it our Rock Garden. While we certainly didn't have your style of artistic abilities, we thought we were pretty darn cool!
