We Must Save the Animals
We are all effected by the environment and the issues that surround us. You don't have to save the world, but we can all do something. It can be as simple as changing the type of light bulb through out your house. Find small ways to make a difference today and we can all live better tomorrow.

If you are thinking 1 year ahead, sow seeds.
If you are thinking 10 years ahead, plant a tree.
If you are thinking 100 years ahead, educate the people.
Extinction is Forever
There are No second chances
Extinction Is ForeverThe chilling words Extinction is Forever surrounds a close-up of a tiger.
Every 20 minutes, one species is pushed to extinction as more than 1,200 acres of forest are destroyed. At the same time, more than 180,000 tons of carbon dioxide are released into the atmosphere. Protecting and restoring forests is a key solution to climate change and is vital to the survival of all life on earth.Get the message across that there are no second chances.

Facts and Statistics
Does saving these endangered species and taking necessary actions for those who are on the brink of extinction means anything to you? It should.
- Three tiger subspecies are already extinct, and a fourth is on its way
In the past century, the world has lost three of the nine tiger subspecies. The Bali, Caspian, and Javan tigers have all become extinct ... and many scientists believe the South China tiger is "functionally extinct". Only about 4,000 tigers remain in the wild. - Both the Javan and Sumatran rhinos are listed on IUCN's Red List as critically endangered and the Indian rhino is listed as endangered.
- Six of the seven species of marine turtles are listed as Endangered or Critically Endangered, and the outlook is increasingly grim. In the Pacific, leatherbacks are heading for extinction, fast, and in the Mediterranean, green turtle numbers have plummeted.
- Asia's only ape, the orangutan, is also in deep trouble. Its last remaining strongholds in the rainforests of Sumatra (Indonesia) and the island of Borneo (Indonesia and Malaysia) are being destroyed by illegal logging, a proliferation of oil palm plantations, and by widespread forest fires, many set by plantation owners. The orangutan, the red "man of the forest" may be extinct in the wild in a few decades unless we act quickly.

Earth's Endangered Creatures
For a list of all endangered species, both plant and animal. The list is shocking.
Florida Panther
Only 80 to 100 panthers still remain in Florida, making this one of the most rare and endangered mammals in the world.

Landmark panther protection program announced.
A coalition of leading conservation organizations and landowners in Eastern Collier County announced a Florida Panther Protection Program they have jointly developed to better protect and manage the Florida panther in Southwest Florida and to assist the recovery of this endangered species.
"We hope this effort to protect the panther through a scientifically sound program that meets diverse interests will inspire initiatives throughout the region. We have worked hard together for an innovative plan that could set this rare and extraordinary cat, Florida's state animal, on a path toward recovery."
- Laurie Macdonald, Director of Florida Programs for Defenders of Wildlife -

Between 1990 and 2005 palm plantations rocketed by 1.87 million hectares in Malaysia and by more than 3 million hectares in Indonesia. With the help of data from the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation, Lian Pin Koh at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich and David Wilcove of Princeton University found that more than half the palm plantations came at the expense of forests - largely pristine, intact forest in Indonesia and previously logged forest in Malaysia. The rest of the expansion covered pre-existing cropland. Read more

- We have to save these animals from extinction for our own sake as well as theirs. Who knows what will happen to the ecosystem when so many animal species are lost for ever, particularly the top level predators. Just as important for me, the world will be a much sadder place without tigers, polar bears, and many other species living free in the wild. Good lens - lensrolled to Bengal Tigers and Dolphins Under Threat.
