STILL LIFE OIL PAINTING SERIES

by k. Madison Moore

Although I enjoy painting in may styles I am diligently working on my Still Life Series. My decision to stay with still life is primarily due to reactions I have had to my food and goodies paintings and the many nice comments from my fans left on my blog. I receive many comments that my food paintings make my viewers hungry. Through the power of suggestion in my paintings, they are running out to get donuts or make lemonade since they saw my bright citrus lemons or my big piece of chocolate cake. My Hamburger Heaven painting sold faster than could be eaten. Then I received an email that as soon as she saw the painting, she purchased it and went right to the kitchen and made herself one. The funniest part of the story is that she is an artist with her own art blog.

My husband enjoys cooking gourmet food and baking all kinds of goodies so I always have a subject to paint. Lovely brilliant colors, textures, hues and values. Soft, Hard, Creamy, Shinny, Juicy and full of flavor. Healthy Fruits, Vegetables, Pasta, Donuts and all Goodies. From here developed my "Delicious Series" of Donuts, Cake, Candy and anything Gooey, Sweet and Fattening, which we all love!

So as not to gain weight while painting my set ups, LOL, I take very close, maco, photos of my subjects to capture the best values and textures of my subject. It amazes me how sprinkles on a donut, so close up, can produce in the end, a detailed still life painting, yet prompting a contemporary flare. I am working on a commission of my Painting, "All in The Hole", photo featured in this article. The painting is 36 x 48 inches. BIG Sprinkles on this close up!

After closing my public studio and now having the time to fulfill my dream of painting every day, I decided to join the painting a day movement started by New York Artist Duane Keiser. Duane sold several hundred of his small daily practice paintings for one hundred dollars in a record short period of time. Through his success came to birth of the painting a day movement in which now hundreds of artists, nationally and internationally have become part of daily.

After several months of painting, promoting and planning, I finally launched my painting a day blog. A Painting A Day Objet's d' Art http://kmadisonmoore.blogspot.com

Being a multi medium, multi style artist, when I first started my blog, I posted many different styles that I have been painting for my clients for many years. It was a good venue to see reactions to my different styles with the virtual public. Thus I will continue with many Still Life Series.

Currently the format for my Still Life Paintings: Quality Oil Paint on Gessoed Canvas Hardwood Custom Made Panels with mitered cornered cradle backs for stability, hangers and wires and ready for framing. The sides of the panels are painted to blend with the painting. panels areCurrent sizes are 6 x 8 8 and 8 x 10 inches. I use many coats of gesso for the effects of the brightest highlights.

My UP COMING SERIES: Miniature works of Art will
be in the same format in sizes from 3 x 5 and 6 x 6 inches and anything in between.

Being a Restoration Artist and Appraiser for over 35 years I have experienced many damages and losses to fine art and antiques from fire, water and age. On too many occasions the client had no appraised value on their collections to present to their insurance companies. therefore incurred great losses. With all of my Paintings I enclose my personal Certificate of appraisal. The certificate will bear all pertinent information about the painting, value description, etc. and will reflect your name.

Still Life, Food Oil Paintings, "Delicious Series": Close up / Macro, Donuts, Cakes, and all Goodies, Healthy Food: Corn on The Cob, Peaches, Lemons and all Fruits and Vegetables. Colorful Peppers, Fruits, Vegetables. Look for Up Coming Still Life: Miniature Works of Art Series.

ONE HUNDRED PAINTINGS:
TODAY I have reached my goal of painting one painting a day for one hundred days. Although it has been challenging and inspiring, I feel to achieve better quality and proficiency in my work I must now work at a more protracted level.

About My Paintings

Oil Paintings

I have been a daily painter for about three months now and have joined the Daily Painters Gallery www.dailypainters.com. I recently retired from my commercial Art Restoration and Framing Studio which now allows me the time to do beautiful oil paintings on a daily basis.

One of my favorite subjects to paint is Still Life Food and Kitchen Art. I paint them in small format, 5 x 7, 6 x 8 and 8 x 10 inches. However, I like to use the entire space of the canvas which projects the donut, corn, etc. as bigger than life. Did you ever see an 6 x 8 inch donut or bagel? Since I have been painting food, my paintings have drawn a lot of attention. I am pleased with my sales on and off the internet and the commissions I have gained. Those that view my goodies call them delicious, thus the name was created,"Delicious Series" They always comment on how my pieces make them hungry. humm...the power of suggestion! This is the response that I am looking for.

It's amazing to look into a piece of food and see all of the different colors and textures and the designs they create.. The urge to paint calls me!

My paintings look so nice hanging in kitchens and have drawn a lot of attention and repeat buyers. Because they are small format many mini galleries can be designed in small spaces which allow the clients to purchase many.

I am now working with a major chain with my donut paintings and hopefully will see them in all their establishments in the future.

I have many interests and find it difficult to paint in one style but I will be concentrating on Still Life. I enjoy painting African Art. I am intrigued movement, multi colors and patterns of African Art and it makes me happy to paint all the details involved.

Landscapes are always wonderful to paint as they are ever changing. I live in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania so I am subjected to the beautiful environment daily. All of the lakes, trees and wild animals are very inspiring. A painters dream and endless subjects.

However, Still Life is all around us and as a painter I see things that others take for granted. This inspires me to put it down on canvas for all to appreciate. I have had so many people tell me that they never realized the beautiful texture and colors in a simple piece of cake, a tea bag or a piece of glass.

The reaction is wonderful and makes me want to paint and paint and paint!
