Wedding Planning On A Budget

There is little doubt that weddings are expensive, no matter how inexpensive you try to make them. But it won't be until you begin your wedding planning & work out your budget that you will really realize the true cost of your dream wedding. And for those of you without a never ending pot of money, you will certainly need to look at ways to reduce your costs.
If you are planning your wedding on a budget then you will no doubt look to find ways to save money & still have all the elements you want for your wedding day. Here are a few tips to help you get started.
Your Wedding Date
Your choice of wedding date can make a big difference to the price of the ceremony, venue hire & other related vendors. Weekends are by far the most popular days of the week to get married, along with public holidays. Because of this vendors will charge a premium for weddings on those days.
But if you choose a midweek date or choose to get married outside of the traditional wedding season of May to September, then you will probably find you can pick up sizable discounts on venue costs & other wedding vendor services.
The Size of Your Wedding
Think about the size of your wedding. If your guest list is running into the hundreds, think about who are the most important people to invite. Having hundreds of guests will push your costs up considerably, you will need to hire a venue big enough to accommodate them all, your catering costs will soar & then there's the drink during the reception.
Work out the maximum you can afford to spend on venue hire, catering & drinks, then adjust your guest list accordingly. Those people that you don't invite to the main reception, could be invited to the evening party as an alternative.
Wedding Photographs
Wedding photographs are an expensive part of your budget, but then it would be inceivable not to have a photograph record of your wedding day. If you can't afford the services of a professional photograph, even with cost cutting on other elements of your wedding, then you will need to consider other alternatives.
Perhaps you will have a friend with a good camera who would be happy to take the pictures for you &/or someone with a video camera who would likewise video the main parts of the wedding for you. Another alternative is to hire a professional photographer for a short time after the ceremony to take just a few photographs of you together & with close family. Talk to a photographer to find out what they can offer you within your budget. Be open & up front about what you can afford & you may just find that they can offer a package to suit you.
Supply your guests with some disposable cameras on each table so they can take some photographs throughout the reception & evening party. You will have no idea what is one them & it can provide some of the most memorable shots of the day.
Wedding Invitations
Consider making your own on your home computer. This is easier than you think, particularly if you can get the use of some desk top publishing software to help you with the layout.
If you really want to order them through a printers make sure you don't over order & end up paying for more than you need. A good tip is to get your main invitations for close friends & family who are invited to the ceremony & reception printed professionally & then print your own for the evening party.
Save more money by not including RSVP cards. Include your telephone number & email address so guest can contact you directly to accept or decline. Another option is to use an online RSVP website.
