One Weird Word

Ranked #42,450 in Entertainment, #482,850 overall | Donates to National Wildlife Federation's Alaska Regional Center

How do you pronounce that word?

A humorous look into the English language.

English schmenglish

English is a difficult language to grasp. It has such bizarre rules that don't make any sense. That alone is bad enough but then each rule has exceptions. And because the exceptions have exceptions the fun never ends.

But my personal favorites are the extra letters thrown in. The letters in words that serve no purpose at all.

See it seems fair to me that I should be able to add random letters to words while playing Scrabble but my kids disagree.
So what is the P doing in Psychic and Pseudo?
And doesn't Aisle like the A at the front?
L doesn't like to go it alone but having a partner doesn't change the sound when you Sell Kelly the Llama.
Patience has a poor I that hides out without sound.
K just keeps N company in knowledge, knob, knife and knee.
And no one knows why thought, night and eight include G and H.

My New Word

So I have decided to create my own word. My new word will be:

* a ten dollar word because of its size.

* part homonym because is sounds like another but is spelled differently.

* also part synonym since it means the same thing.

* and finally a metonym in metonymy (a figure of speech used to represent that to which it is related).

And the word I have created? Well it simply is this:

PSAILLIEKNGHT

So the next time the kids are running about. I am simply going to smile as I shout -

PSAILLIEKNGHT!

Which of course you all recoginze from the rules up above that this is pronounced sahy-luhnt

so shh.

We all need to laugh a little bit more.

Hi Kelly. One could say that silence or PSAILLIEKNGHT is golden! Like your lens. I have trouble pronouncing English and it's the only language I know...
However, I have made a bunch of lenses for my dentist hubby, my son and now me. But none of them are about business opportunities. I think if you were allowed to make a lens about a MLM business opportunity, it would probably be FANTASTIC (no silent letters in that word).

Hey Kelly. I like your sense of humor. I often think that the English language is so much harder to learn than foreign ones.
