Affordable Obituaries
Unfortunately, the costs for all the services will never be lower. Each year, these costs increase and we are just stuck in the end deciding what can be afforded instead of what we want. With an obituary, you can place a 250 word obituary in your local newspaper ranging from the costs of fifty dollars in a smaller town, to costs around five hundred to one thousand dollars in large cities. Why would any company want to charge this much for someone to celebrate someones life after they are gone? An obituary gives the chance to the loved ones to say everything they want to say about the one they just lost, it should not be restricted to the amount of words or costs.
Well, I have found a website today that may change the way we all see obituaries and for once allow all of us to say what we want to say about the one we have lost. This site is appropriately named Missing You Forever, and I believe this site is something we have all needed for a long time.
Obituaries - Can We Afford to Say What We Want to Say?
We are all human and we all say to ourselves "HOW MUCH!?". We all realize the costs associated with memorializing our loved ones can be ridiculous, but what choice do we have? The Funeral Homes offer full packages that one fee takes care of everything.
One option you have to reduce the cost of the Funeral is with the obituary. This is where MissingYouForever.com comes into the picture. The website offers an unlimited words, a guest book to post sympathies, four pictures, Social Network Sharing, and the option to email/print the obituary. The obituary will remain online for 366 days, which, when using a newspaper, you have the option of posting the obituary for 1 or 2 days at costs around 10 times what MissingYouForever.com offers.
When Bad Things Happen to Good People
by Harold S. Kushner
Chicken Soup For The Grieving Soul
A book that I will always give to someone I know that is dealing with a loss is Chicken Soup for the Grieving Soul. This edition is full of stories from other persons going through grief and the emotions that each person feels at such a hard time. When reading this book, you realize that you are not alone with the emotions you are feeling. That we all grieve in our own way.
I recommend this book as a gift to anyone that has experienced the loss of a loved one, it can help you understand the hurt, anger, frustration, solitude and initial shock of the loss. Everyone can benefit from reading this book. One thing that I do each time I purchase the book, is ensure a short message is written in the front of the book and mention a certain story on a certain page that I feel relates to that persons situation. Adding this special message can make all the difference to the person receiving the book.
New Addition to the Chicken Soup Family - Grieving and Recovery
This is a new book in the series that also focuses on grieving, but also tells stories of how they took the necessary steps to recover from the initial grief and shock of the death. There can never be enough stories for the bereaved. Each story read, leaves the reader to realize that they are not alone in what they are feeling.
Memorial and Sympathy Gifts
Memorialize a Love One
There are some amazing gifts that can be given to memorialize your/their loved one that will stay in yours/their hearts forever. Sometimes when we know someone whom has lost a loved on, our first instinct is to send flowers. Now, of course, this is a kind gesture and we always will consider that to be our first option.
Another option, if they do live close, is to ensure that the family is fed and not have to worry about cooking dinners as they have a lot on their plates with organizing and planning a funeral, and also still dealing with the initial shock of losing their loved one. My family will make a weeks worth of dinners and also pick up some prepared foods for them to just throw in the oven or microwave.
There are also many other options for gifts that we can give to show how much we care and how much we are feeling the loss along with them. I have done an extensive search on many different products out there that will memorialize their loved one and to give them something that they will remember forever.
The Comfort Company
The Comfort Company was founded by Renee Wood in 2000 when her Sister In-Law lost her father and was unable to attend the funeral. Renee was pregnant and wanted to send her something that would know how much she is thinking about her and acknowledging the great loss her Sister In-Law was experiencing.
She molded a teardrop shape out of Playdoh and brought it to a local jewelery store to have the impression made into a Sterling Silver pendant with a verse she had written to go along with the pendant. Well from this, she received quite a demand for the pendants which then encouraged her to start The Comfort Company, and the rest is history.
- She has been on the Oprah Winfrey Show for pursuing her dream
- She has also been Featured on ABC News
