Online Passes

One of the most controversial things in gaming at the moment is the Online Pass. For those who haven't yet heard of them they are a one time use only code that you get when you purchase a new triple A game to allow you to play the game online. But if you buy the game used from whatever source you will have to purchase this code so that you can play online.

But what is the reason for this and do you agree with the decision of the games producers to use these online codes. Read on and add your own views.

The main reason that EA invented the online pass is to combat the money that they loose to pre-owned sales as the pre-owned market has got completely out of hand and servers for online games do not come cheap.

An Online Pass Game

Resistance 3

Sony's first game to include an online pass is Resistance 3. For those of you who haven't heard of Resistance, where have you been? Resistance 2 has to be the best FPS exclusive on the Playstation3 and Resistance 3 is all set to follow in its footsteps. So trade in your copy of Killzone 3 and get the game that blows it away. Just make sure you get it new, or you will have to buy an online pass for it from the PSN to be able to enjoy its multi-player functions.
