Online Team Building Tips

If you are new to having an online business, you need to be part of a strong team. If you have been online a while and are struggling to succeed, you need to join a strong team today.

Why do I say this?

The answer is simple. There is too much to learn and too much to do for a typical person to "make it" online working alone. You must master a lot of skills pretty quickly and the opportunity to be overcome with informational overload is very real.

Here are a few key items a team can help you with.

1. Getting started-- you can plan yourself into the poorhouse working from home.
You need to take immediate and massive action to succeed working from home. If you are stuck in "planning mode", you won't make any money. Your team can give you a "success plan" that others have used before you. This is very valuable, especially if you need income quickly.

2. What to do and what to avoid-- there are a lot of things you can find to do that are a total waste of your time. There are other key business building actions that are "must dos". Your team will point you in the right direction on what to do and just as importantly what not to do. This can make or break your business.

3. Accountability-- your team can help hold you accountable to get done what you commit to. An accountability partner can really help you make sure you are getting key tasks done and will keep you focused. This is very important in the early stages of building your business.

4. Motivation-- your team will help keep you going, especially if you hit some bumps in the road. When times get tough, it is very helpful to have some of your team help you get back on track. This can be very helpful if you have had a lot of issues in the past are in a stressful period of your life.

5. Success stories-- when you are first getting started in any online business, people will ask you how you are doing. When you are just getting started, it is very beneficial for you to be able to talk to people that have already been successful in your company or venture. You team can help you bridge the gap until you are a success. This can be a simple phone call to one of your prospects to let them know you are part of a great team.

6. Earning while learning-- a team will help you learn what you need to while you are starting to earn some money. Learning and earning go hand in hand, and your team will accelerate both your learning and earning if you take the time to ask for help and take action upon what you are taught.

As you can see, there is huge value in working with a good team. I highly recommend you find a solid team to work with, irregardless of what online opportunity you choose to pursue.

If you are struggling to see success online, you are not alone. That may not make you feel better, but the fact is that most people struggle when they start to work online. There are a number of factors associated with this, but a few really stand out for me. I base these comments on what I have seen online over the past six years. I do not profess to be a "guru" or expert in making money online. I just speak from my personal experiences and what I have learned over the years. I have seen the "thrill of victory" and I have seen the "agony of defeat" a number of times over the years. I have learned and I have made good money online. Some of the key things I think you need to think about are covered below:

Run Your Business Like A Business -- If you are going to make a steady income online, you need to run a business. You need to believe you are in business, and you need to act like you are in business. You need to have office hours, and spend most of your time acquiring and taking care of your customers. If you are not doing this, you are probably not going to be too successful. You are in business. Make sure you are acting that way.

Never, Ever Quit -- You are probably doing a lot of new things right now in your business. Not everything is going to go as planned. That is just the way having your own business works. If you have doubts about this, go talk to a few small business owners in your town. You will find that running your own business has its ups and downs. Just remember to Never, Ever Quit and you will be well on your way to success. Many people I coach and mentor want to quit before they have even done enough work to actually be started in their business. Don't quit before you even get started.

Consistency -- When you have a business you need to run your business. You need to do it consistently over an extended period of time to be successful. You do not need to kill yourself for two or three days and then take a week off. Consistent behavior generates consistent results. Make sure you have a 90 day and 180 day plan in writing. That will help keep you on track and consistent.

Persistence -- Being persistent means sticking with your plan, even if you aren't exactly seeing the results you might like. Persistent people find a way to win and succeed. When the chips are down, persistent people stay in the game and eventually win. Persistence is a critical attribute to have when you are running your own business.

Follow Proven Leadership -- When you don't exactly know what you are doing, you need to follow a person that is doing what you want to do. I am not talking about following teachings in eBooks and home study courses. I am talking about hooking up with a real human being. If you are not doing this right now, stop everything and find a leader that will give you some time and will teach you things. This tip alone can make or break your business.

Do Not Act Alone -- This goes back to following someone that knows what they are doing. If you are working alone and following your advice all by your self, you are in a lonely world that will not give you much motivation and reinforcement. Do not try to go it alone. There are real people out there that will help you if you ask for help...and then do what they tell you to do.

Do Not Program Jump -- This is a biggie. If you think joining a new program a week or a month is going to help you... you are just wrong. If you choose a decent program and team in the first place, moving to another program is probably going to undo what progress you are making and will put in constant "rebuilding and learning" mode. This will kill your progress and your pocketbook. That "new" program is most likely no better than the one you are in. Trust me on this one. Do not program jump.

Do Not Try To Buy Your Way To Success-- This is another piece of bad advice a lot of people give out. Go buy this tool. Go buy that marketing program. Start with free advertising and learn how a marketing funnel really works. Do this even if you have money for paid advertising. Once you have ads and an offer that "works" , you can spend your advertising dollars much more effectively and efficiently.

Find A Mentor -- I hope by now you are sensing that you need some help to really get a business off the ground. Find a mentor. Find a person that will help you learn the ropes. Most online compensation plans strongly reward teamwork and team building. If you are a good worker and take action on directions given, you can find a good mentor that will help you. It will become a "Win/Win" situation for both of you.

Find An Accountability Partner -- This can be your mentor but works even better if it is a person at a similar level of learning and proficiency that you are in. You simply hold each others "feet to the fire" and make sure the stuff you commit to gets done. An accountability partner can do wonders for your mental well being as well as your earnings.

Have a "Daily Method Of Operation" -- If you are in business, you will have few days off. On the days that you are working you need to develop and embrace a "DMO". You should never wake up and say "What Am I Going To Do Today?". With your daily method of operation in place, you know what you are going to do before you go to bed.

Focus on "IPAs" -- You need to spend 90+ % of your time on Income Producing Activities when you are just starting out. If your actions are not finding new customers or taking care of existing customers, they are probably not IPAs. You must get customers and you must provide them excellent service if you are going to stay in business and make a profit. Think about,
"Is This An IPA?" when you are figuring out how to spend your time. This one tip alone will have a positive affect on your bottom line.

Plow Your Earnings Back Into Your Business-- Once you start to make income, plow at least 50% of it back into building your business. What does that mean exactly? You should spend at least 50% of your income on growing your customer base.
