Online Acoustic Guitar Lessons VS. In-Store Lessons

If you are looking to learn the acoustic guitar, you are either stuck trying to learn on your own or you are trying to decide whether or not to take online acoustic guitar lessons or take in-store lessons. Certainly there are some pro's and con's associated with both, so you are going to have to compare them and see what is going to suit you best.

In my opinion, taking online acoustic guitar lessons will save you a lot of money, compared to spending money on lessons each month, plus you have access to world renowned guitarists online. Sure, in-store lessons give you the one-on-one aspect, but what good is that when the person teaching you has no clue what they are talking about. Let's face it, most people teaching in music stores are just there because it's a job, but the guy's teaching online do it because they love it.

Acoustic Guitar Lessons Online

Pro's and Con's

As I mentioned above, online you have access to musicians all over the world that offer acoustic guitar lessons. These are musicians that love to play and teach the guitar and are always very knowledgeable when it comes to the instrument. With acoustic guitar lessons online, you won't get the one-on-one aspect of in-store lessons, but what you will get is even better in my opinion.

Online acoustic guitar lessons will provide you with videos and demonstrations that you can download straight to your computer that you can watch, pause, rewind and watch over and over as many times as it takes to understand the concept you are trying to learn.

With in-store lessons, you only have access to your teacher for 30 minutes, once a week. I mean how much can you really learn in a half hour lesson once per week? And does this teacher have much experience or is it just a summer time job?

The Instructors that offer acoustic guitar lessons online are usually professional musicians who have an extensive background in music. These are people who have spent their entire lives playing in bands, recorded in studios, taught music in schools and have the experience to and expertise to pass on to other aspiring musicians and guitarists.

Taking acoustic guitar lessons online can also benefit you in that you will be able to download lessons in text format with pictures. With being able to watch your instructor on video, plus access to written instructions and pictures that you can download to your computer, or do what I did and print them off and put them in a binder, the advantages soon become very obvious.

If you're taking online acoustic guitar lessons, you get the to take advantage of learning from the comfort of your own home instead of spending money on gas or the subway to get to the music store for your lesson.

Now if you're thinking that acoustic guitar lessons online will cost to much, just do the math. A music store will usually charge you anywhere from $20 - $30 dollars per lesson, and usually you will pay for something like 8 lessons at one time. If you're paying $20 per lesson and you pay for 8 lessons, that's $160!!! For only 2 months worth of lessons (well it's really only 4 hours worth of lessons if you're taking half hour lessons once per week). That's almost $1000 per year in guitar lessons. Now compare that to the price of online acoustic guitar lessons.

Most online guitar lessons are a one time fee and are usually fairly cheap. If you can find a good online program, which I will tell you how to find below, you can get over a year's worth of lessons for under $100. When you compare that price tag to in-store lessons it's a no brainer.

As I've explained there are many pro's to taking online acoustic guitar lessons and very few con's. What you need to know now, is how to find a good online course to take.

If you are serious about learning to play the acoustic guitar then I really suggest you check out the Jamorama Acoustic Guitar Lessons course. Acoustic Guitar Lessons Online

What to Look For

If you have decided to take online acoustic guitar lessons, you will need to know what to look for when paying for a course. There can be a lot of crap out there, but if you know what you're looking for you'll be fine.

When looking at a guitar course to buy online, you want to know that you are learning from an experienced instructor. If the site says the instructor has a bachelor of arts in music or spent 10 years playing live around the world, unless they prove it on the page, email them and ask for some proof. If they are being honest they should have no trouble in proving it to you. You want to make sure you will be getting quality acoustic guitar lessons and are being taught by a person who has the expertise and knowledge of what they are talking about.

You'll also want to look for what kind of teaching tools they provide. Videos, audio, written instruction, pictures etc. Most courses are pretty good at providing all of this but if you are a certain type of learner, make sure the course will cater to your learning style.

Make sure the course you're buying comes with a "Money Back Guarantee". The last thing you want is to buy a product that doesn't live up to your expectations or isn't the way the described it. Having a "Money Back Guarantee" will protect your investment.

Also look to see what kind of "bonuses" the company are offering with the product. Some companies will offer metronomes to practice with, tuners so you can tune your guitar, free jam tracks etc. You might as well pick the product that gives you the most bang for your buck.

If you follow these guidelines when choosing which acoustic guitar lessons to take, you will get a course that you will enjoy and have fun with....as well as save some money.

Acoustic Guitar Songs

Easy Songs to Learn for Beginners

If you're looking for some acoustic guitar lessons, maybe the best thing to do would be to learn some easy acoustic songs. Any online guitar lesson course will teach you how to read "guitar tab" so that you can search for any song you want to learn and be able to read how to play it. Once you learn guitar tab, you can start learning any song you want. Here are a few acoustic songs that I suggest beginners learn:

Green Day - Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
The Eagles - Peaceful Easy Feeling
The Animals - House of the Rising Sun

These are some fairly easy songs with basic chords and should be pretty easy for beginners to learn, Especially if you're already taking acoustic guitar lessons online.
