I have been there and done this over the last five or six years and I will share some things you need to know before you venture into the world of On-line Dating.

First and foremost, be honest about yourself when setting up your profile! You can only get away with being untruthful about yourself for so long and then you get discovered and may lose someone you could be interested in. So, accurately describe yourself and your hobbies and activities. A VERY BIG MUST is to post a photo and make sure it is fairly current and truly represent what you look like, not some photo that makes you look like a movie star or fashion model because this will only disappoint your date when on your first meeting. When you do meet someone they should be able to easily recognize you from your photos and say to you that you do look just like your photos.

When you are describing what you are looking for in a mate or date, be VERY HONEST again and tell it as it is! If you have a certain age group that is acceptable, then say so! If you want someone that is in great shape and physically fit then specify this. Just saying FIT is not enough because I have met people who picked this body type and I'm sure they were not good at spelling because it should have been spelled FAT. If you are not too fussy then say so and the same for the reverse, let them know that you are very selective. This will save you a lot of time and effort by not being bothered by people that you would not be interested in dating. Also be very clear on distance, meaning that you want someone local or you are willing to travel.
