Blues Slide Guitar
If you are a beginning guitar player or a seasoned player that wants to learn how to play the blues there are some guidelines to help you focus on the learning this soulful sound. If you lay out a practice format rather than bouncing from one artist or style to the next your progress will be much faster!
Some guidelines to the blues:
1. Give credit where credit is due!
The origins of rock and roll can be traced back to the early forms of the blues in the Mississippi Delta, and you will see many influences of the early blues in today's rock and roll, so it is important that your blues guitar lessons are treated as a separate and unique style.
2. The blues progression is unique!
The one four five blues chord progression is based on the 1st 4th and 5th steps of the major scale and is featured in the majority of blues songs. That is not to say that it is boring far from it and it is your job as a blues guitarist to give it feeling and life!
3. Master the blues scale!
As a blues guitarist you will be spending a lot of time playing the notes in the minor pentatonic scale, however there are many close neighbors that can add spice to your sound and reinforce your style. So live a little outside the box!
4. Get that beat down!
The 4/4 beat is very common in the blues, slow or fast the tempo laid down can set the mood for the song so whatever feel you are going for can be determined by the time signature you choose!
5. Can you hear me now?
Once you develop your ear and understand the one four five blues progression, you will be able to hear the changes and you will be able to recognize those changes in various musical pieces old and new.
6.Build those chops!
Listen and learn the blues licks from the past and present. If you study the various rock guitarist you will notice they have borrowed blues licks from the past that they have incorporated into modern rock sounds.
7. Think outside the box!
Listen and if you want learn some slide guitar many blues guitarist have incorporated slide guitar into their blues recording and slide guitar sound fits like a glove over the blues sound.
8. Lend an ear to the great ones!
Listen to the great blues artist from the past and pay attention to how the artist of today have taken the sound further.
9. Petty larceny and the blues!
If you are going to steal licks from the blues masters of the past make sure you do something with it and pay it forward, take the music further and give them their due.
10. Blues is a good man feeling down!
It has been said to play the blues you have to live the blues, it is all about the mileage and that can only come from the feeling something deep at some level and that will find its way to your strings.

The Bass Guitar Without It The Music Is Flat!
Listen to your favorite song and try to imagine it without the bass beat. Pretty flat huh?The bass player is the heartbeat of the band and holds the groove and keeps everyone else in the band honest to the tempo (along with the drummer if there is one). The bass player keeps all the other instruments together the glue that keeps the band together musically!
While the lead guitarist is going off blasting out riff after riff with lightning fast speed you are keeping cool, laid back, the calm in the eye of the musical storm you groove.

Beginning Guitar Lessons - Your Mindset
This same mindset can be utilized with beginning guitar lessons! There are going to be days when you will become frustrated and want to quit I often threw down the instrument in disgust thinking I would never improve. I knew of guitar players that drove their fist into the guitar so you will not be alone in your frustration. The good news is on the other side of that frustration is a great feeling when you reach a new plateau in your learning.

Online Guitars - The Blues Guitar
Buying A Guitar OnlineIn this modern day of technology overload it is easy to get overwhelmed with too much information. However if you are going to purchase a guitar online having information is a good thing in fact the more the better! With a search on the Internet you can get flooded with guitar information about lessons free this free that. However if you are going to purchase a guitar online it would be wise to follow these 5 helpful tips:
1. Do your homework!
Dig deep for all the information you can about the guitar of your dreams. Remember not everything is about price but do compare!
2. Consider your use!
If you are a hardcore rocker that jams out heavy metal tunes then a classical guitar is not going to be your instrument...or a blues guitar player so a nylon string guitar is not the right choice either.
3. Get a grip on it!
Go to your local music store and see if they have the model you desire, if so play it get a feel of it and if the price is right and you get the right vibe BUY IT there is a chance you may never get that warm and fuzzy feeling again.
4. Turn over some online rocks!
If you are thinking of making that online guitar purchase be sure to read the shipping/return/warranty policy of the company you are going to do business with. Of course it is boring blah blah blah stuff but read it anyway.
5. Check out the lines on that one!
When your beauty arrives carefully remove it from the box (save the box) and inspect it top to bottom for any damage, and make sure all the necessary paperwork is included such as warranty information.
Okay now you have the guitar of your dreams don't obsess with the notion that there might have been a better deal out there. That is wasted time and energy that is better spent practicing!
Buying a guitar online can be a rewarding experience with the right research however there is no subsitutue for hands on, it would be like buying a car without a test drive!

5 Key Things to Work On When Learning To Play the Guitar
2.Keep your fingernails short. If your nails are short it is far easier to finger the fret board than if they are too long!
3.Keep your strings fresh. If you practice with dull/dead strings the sound quality will suffer and you are not going to stay motivated to play.
4.Tune it or die. Whatever you do never ever play out of tune! If you have a hard time tuning by ear invest in a good reliable tuner don't go cheap here!
5.Choose comfort. Seek out a comfortable chair or stool and a quiet room or area where there are no distractions!

Looking For A Unique Sound? Consider The Resonator Guitar!
The Dobro or resonator guitar is a soulful sweet sounding instrument, in the right hands it can twist a knot in your heart ...unless you don't have a pulse. The resonator style guitar, or resophonic guitar as it is sometimes referred to, is an acoustic guitar that uses one or more metal cones (resonators) in place of the traditional wooden soundboard. There are 2 types of these instrumentsthose being square-necked guitars and round-necked guitars. The former are designed to be played like a lap steel guitar (with a slide), while the latter can be played as either a conventional classical guitar or as a steel guitar. In addition to this division, there are also three main types of resonator designs: the "tricone," the single inverted cone, and the spider-less single cone.
