1) Rapport. You'll have the chance to send them emails that build rapport and trust. In most cases, about 97% of the time ... If someone doesn't like and trust you they won't buy anything from you.

2) You're the expert. Having your own "system" which includes a lead capture page or pages and email follow-up system creates an image. Your image as an expert. They see you as someone different than the average run-of-the-mill online hawker. They see you as an expert in your field, someone worthy of trust; an online marketing professional.

3) Opportunity. You'll have the opportunity to send them offers, as often as you wish, on as many products that are relevant to the list they joined ... until they either die or unsubscribe.

Thanks to web spammers this is more difficult now because blog owners are almost always requiring approval of your comment and some blog platforms have a built-in "no follow" code on comments which renders your linkback useless.

3. Answer Questions. Answer questions related to your site's topic at answers.yahoo.com. Be sure to put a link to your site in each of your answers.

4. Join Forums. Join a handful of the most popular forums that deal with your site's topic and become an active poster. Include a link to your site in your signature.

5. Write testimonials. If you are happy with a product or service you have used, write an unbiased testimonial and trade it for a back link to your site.

6. Start a blog on blogger.com and a blog on wordpress.com, if you don't have them, link them to your site (Squidoo lens) and submit them to the hundreds of free blog directories. This will get you plenty of quality traffic as long as you keep your blogs updated with fresh relevant content.

7. Post ads with a link to your site on all the free classified ad sites you can find, such as craigslist.org. The best ones will allow you to post a live link. But don't neglect the other ones. If your ad is well written, people will go out of their way and type your url into their browser. Of course you must post in the appropriate category.

8. Use email signatures. Write an interesting email signature that includes a link to your site, and use it with every outgoing business email you send.

9. Use Social Networking sites. Start a page on MySpace, Facebook, or any other high page rank social book-marking site you can find and link them to your site. However, be advised the use of social networking can be a real time sucker if you fall into the trap of being a social butterfly. Remember, you are seeking traffic and sales not time wasting online friends and games.

10. Write a boat load of articles and use your lead capture page address in the bio box. If you don't have a LCP use your blog address or squidoo lens address in the bio box. Article marketing does two (2) things for you and your business. The first is that the articles, when submitted to top article directories, will drive loads of free targeted traffic to your page and second the articles help portray you as an expert in your field or niche.

While all this looks like a full time job, remember, you don't have to use them all at once. Just pick the one you feel most comfortable with and start there - now. Invest 30 minutes to an hour daily in building your free traffic. Then, go to your next favorite technique and so on.
