Online Payment Methods

As more and more people are buying online, newer and better methods are being started to make the online buying and selling experience as easy as possible. Several different online payment methods have sprung up in less than five years. If you were even a couple of years back, you would not have thought about these methods.

Initially credit cards were used as the only method of online purchase. The problems of credit card thefts were rising and there were many phishers waiting to get somebodies credit card number and use the money. Several thousands of dollars were lost in these credit thefts. Even now there will be many cases of credit thefts.

Thankfully with the advancement of the internet, we have several different methods to use our money online that. Even though these methods are not completely fool proof, but the danger has been reduced to a good extent.

In this page you can see several online payment methods which are popularly used nowadays. These methods will be listed in no particular order.

Paypal

If you have purchased anything online then you should definitely come across Paypal. It has become very famous and thousands of people use it daily. It was founded in 1998. Later in 2002 it was aquired by eBay, the leading auction site in the world. It boasts of more than 164 million accounts worldwide. It is available to many countries around the globe and supports 17 currencies.

If you have not registered yet then click here to create your account now. You can create three types of accounts.

1. Personal account if you just shop online
2. Premier account if you buy and sell online
3. Business account is for merchants

You can create an account for free. If you do not do a credit card validation then there will be a monthly limit of $500. Performing a credit card validation will raise that limit. (For those who don't have a credit card you can also use a debit card with Mastercard or Visa logo to perform the validation)

Beware of scams:
No matter what service you use online, you are never 100 percent safe from online phishers who will probably do anything to get you into trouble. Be always alert whenever you are dealing online. You may receive fake emails claiming to be from paypal. Here is an example of a fake paypal email and login page.

Liberty Reserve

Another option for online payment is the liberty reserve (it is incorporated under the law of Costa Rica). According to liberty reserve(or just LR), LR-USD accounts are backed by US dollars and LR-Gold accounts are backed by gold. One interesting point about LR is that the payments cannot be revoked which may cause difficulty sometimes.
