Bonanzle Is This Seller's Bonanza & It Can Be Yours Too!

I opened & Activated my Booth, Eye Catching Beauty on Bonanzle, on December 14th 2008 and unlike my experience with a few (very few) other sites I find my enthusiasm and positivity of my potential success on Bonanzle increases daily.

Ok I'll tell you why :)

1) Bonanzle is very easy to both Navigate and to list products for sale

2) Bonanzle is clean! There are not ads bogging down the site causing it to be slow as all H***. And, they do not place competing sellers' ads on my listings behind my back and have the gall to charge me to advertise for someone else.

3) I run my own business! Bill & Mark do not interfere with my shipping fees, pricing, return policy, payment methods, the feedback I can leave my trading partner. Nothing, I cannot think of a single thing that Bonanzle does that makes my job harder.

4) The fees are OMG so much lower

5) The integration of tools/features that Bonanzle users can contribute to the site content beyond our listings.

Google Attributes YEAH - Bonanzlers can now set Google Attributes in their listings to optimize their search exposure

I am sure as soon as I publish this update there will be a new enhancement added to the blog. It has been a quiet weekend - I suspect that means a busy weekend. We'll see.

Another Winning Month on Bonanzle -

If you aren't Bonanzling yet - what are you waiting for?

Yesterday Bill announced additional enhancements - no surprise really.

WOW I knew I was paying a lot but ......

eBay VS. Bonanzle fees

I opened my Bonanzle Booth in Mid December 2008. To date (May 3rd 10:00pm) I have sold 125 items in a total of 85 transactions.

My experience so far:

On Payment Methods:
On Bonanzle I am able to offer Google Checkout and I have found that quite a few people choose Google over PayPal. Out of the 85 transactions 44 have paid with PayPal & 41 with Google Checkout. I find this ratio of PayPal vs Google Checkout interesting, because it shows how much business sellers on eBay lose as a result of eBay's Google Checkout Ban.

Total Gross Sales to Date - May 3rd
Dec. $95.00 - 6 items (activated Booth 14 December)
Jan. $231.50 - 12 items
Feb. $353.00 - 23 items
Mar. $618.70 - 41 items
April. $483. 95 - 36 items
May $108.00 - 7 item
Total items sold - 125
Total $1890.15

Total fess to date on Bonanzle
Dec. $6.00
Jan. $9.00
Feb. $17.00
Mar. $27.00
April $26.00
May $5.00
Total fees - $90.00

Fees I would have paid if these sales were on eBay over the past 6 month billing (May has begun so I would already owe the subscription fees)

Store Subscription (I had a feature store) 49.99 x 6 mo -$299.94
Picture Manager Subscription - 10 x 6 months -$60.00
Insertion fees for average of 900 listings x 6 mo (store) -$162.00
Final Value fees - 12% x $1890.15= $226.82
PS discount - typically 15% = $34.02

Ignoring fees I would have paid for auction & fixed insertion fees and NPBs

Total fees = $714.74

Total Difference in Fees Paid
$714.74 - eBay
$90.00 - Bonanzle

*$624.74* this is how much money I saved - or earned in profit - selling these 125 items on Bonanzle and not eBay!

Who Is Buying From Me
85 transactions as of May 3rd 2009

Bonanzle Users - 4
Customers from the bay - 1
Customers from search (Google%u2026) - 80

So anyone wondering if there are only sellers buying on Bonanzle the answer is no!

Bonanzle: The Best eBay Alternative We've Seen
Review from e-commerce Guides
You Can Find eBay's Soul at Bonanzle.com
Over the past few months, I've heard quite a bit about a new ecommerce site called Bonanzle, so I finally took a look at it. I was surprised to find a fresh looking, easy to use site, that has a sense of community and reminds me a lot of the early days of eBay.
Top 10 Countdown to a Better 2009 Year as an Ecommerce Seller %uFFFD TheBrewsNews
There is no doubt that 2008 was a tough year for all ecommerce sellers, and especially rough for eBay sellers. However, I really have high hopes that 2009 will be a much better year. I decided to include a Top 10 Countdown List for any ecommerce seller who is ready to put 2008 in the rear-view mirror and get on with 2009:
Brainstorming Bonanzle, A First Timer
Bonanzle boasts an awesome group of users, positive, supportive, and always moving forward. This wonderful attitude and easy communication made this experience a definitively positive one for me. Much information was shared on goals for 2009, and ways to draw buyers to a Bonanzle booth.
Bonanzle 10,000 User Milestone Reached Today, by Scott Pooler
10,000 users have registered to buy and sell on Bonanzle. Yes, I agree, this is not a significant number when compared with the registered user of sites like eBay, Amazon.com or even Etsy. Yet, the speed in which this milestone has been reached is a significant development.

Competing with eBay by Making People Matter | WebProNews
I contacted Bill Harding and Mark Dorsey, co-founders of the site that was recently named Best eBay Alternative of 2008 to ask them about their strategy for competing with the well-established brand of eBay.
Bonanzle- What's All the Hype About?
After a grueling and frustrating and for some devastating year of eBay changes for many the time has come to start breaking away from the ever increasing oppression of eBay. Many people are turning to Bonanzle and there is a good reason why- it is your best opportunity to succeed in your escape from the sadistic eBay marketplace. For many this won't be an overnight departure, but departing they are.

Seattle Startup Bonanzle Takes on eBay
In June of 2008, Seattle programmer Bill Harding launched an online marketplace called Bonanzle. The site, a completely grassroots effort with zero VC or angel funding, is in many ways the anti-eBay. Instead of focusing solely on the goods being sold, Bonanzle is attempting to build a marketplace where the people are relevant, too. On Bonanzle, buyers can chat with sellers in real-time or over instant messaging, an experience that delivers a more social experience to the online shopping process. These interactions have allowed Bonanzle to build a strong community, but will that be enough to take on eBay?
Hey eBay, Say Hello to Bonanzle
The first Saturday morning of each month, licensed auctioneer Walt Kolenda holds live auctions on the Web. Buyers usually show up early to inspect the goods and ask "Auction Wally" questions through a live chat window. From the comfort of his home in Barre, Mass., Kolenda calls the action over a real-time podcast, taking bidders, offering bundle deals, and calling attention to the rarity of a set of antique postcards or the craftsmanship of a piece of ornate glassware.
Turn your skills or your stuff into extra cash
This is a very visual and shopper-friendly online marketplace, says Steiner. It's geared toward more unusual items such as collectibles, antiques, unique fabrics or furniture. You can sell your items at a fixed price but there's also a live booth chat feature that lets buyers and sellers haggle back and forth. Listing is free and your item remains posted until it's sold, or until you remove it. You will pay a fee when your stuff is sold.
Bonanzle - Bodacious eBay Competitor Gives Birth to Fresh Merchandising Format
Bonanzle (pronounced Bon-an-zle), a start up out of Kirkland Washington, is positioning itself as a viable option to eBay and Craigslist. Bonanzle launched on June 1st, 2008 and is actively recruiting sellers and buyers with grass roots efforts and social media marketing. In less than a month of operations Bonanzle claims an item count of 72,000 and over 2000 registered users (September 16th, 2008).
Bonanzle.com: Fashion Overload
Sometimes, the shopping experience is more important than the purchase. If you don't agree with that sentence, skip on Bonanzle.com, which is kind of like "eBay with a face." Users interact with each other on a personal level, buying and selling items that range from classic records to Chanel purses.

Buyers can look at items posted in the past 24 hours, browse items by category, and check out the bonanza (online garage sale) schedule. Each bonanza has a unique theme and percentage discount offered. If you're looking for sellers in your zip code, Bonanzle will capture your IP address and point you in the right direction! A little spooky, but hey, it works. Much like Craigslist, you can even track down "freebies."
Bonanzle, For Your Community Minded Auctions
eBay has really taken a lot of flak the past year or so. You keep hearing that they've gone commercial, and that it isn't about the user experience anymore. If you do go on eBay, you'll find that most of these claims are quite true. Most of your top results are all power users, with mostly using the Buy Now option.

There are other sites out there that you can focus on if you want to try and get out of the shadow of the eBay elite. One site is called Bonanzle. In my short experience utilizing Bonanzle I've come away quite impressed. First, Bonanzle is a site based around 'community'. So, if you're a person who likes to build relationships online, and not just power sell then you'll find quite a bit to like about Bonanzle.
The Internet is abuzz about Bonanzle
If you're ready to take control of your business and have fun selling online again, then you're ready to start selling where 'the grass is greener on the other side'...
Anything But Ordinary: Bonanzle Aims To Be the Social Site for Buying and Selling Niche Items | Xconomy
First off, please don't call it an eBay competitor. Sure, it's in the online marketplace space, but it's going after a specialized segment with a different approach. The startup is called Bonanzle, it's based in Kirkland, WA, and it has one of the most promising trajectories of any young company in the Northwest. Bottom line: Bonanzle is already profitable, and has been turning away investors eager to get a piece of the action.
