EMI demand for online storage company -News

The Internet record label EMI ignores the right of users to create backup copies of music for which they have paid.

According to EMI, it is illegal to operate services backups.

Michael Robertson, owner of MP3Tunes.com, has recently published the letters he has received from the EMI record label, after being sued by EMI.

According to EMI, it is illegal to offer a service back up MP3 files on the Internet as a security solution. MP3tunes.com is actually a site that offers the possibility of storing music legally, and is not a store devoted to selling music or a service for exchanging music.

"The files are not owned by MP3Tunes.com, the same way that the contents of a safe deposit box at a bank is not owned by the bank. The space offers MP3Tunes.com is owned by the customers themselves, "says Robertson in his blog.

The employer continued by stating that "space is empty until someone decides on their own what file upload. The files are stored because it is the will of the user himself. Those who choose this solution must have the same rights of privacy protection as someone who has something stored on a hard drive of your own computer. "

In launching its service in 2005 Robertson commented that the recording industry would not have any possibility of sue or try to speak their service, given that this was solely a storage system backup to the users themselves.
