California Magdesian was started by two brothers in LA in 1952. Having knowledge of footwear making in both Armenia and in Russia the brothers were working for another LA company when they began to make shoes in their garage for extra money. Soon they were discovered as true craftsmen. The name and reputation soon spread to other southern resort towns and soon they were known for sandals shoes of quality in sizes and widths. Today Magdesian is still run by family of the 2nd generation and training the third for the future. The shoes are still hand crafted in LA county in the City of Industry, CA. Magdesian uses imported fine grade Italian leather as well as American leather. We make shoes in size 4 to 14 and in Super Slim (SS) to Double Wide (WW).

Tiny Feet Fashionable?

Maybe years ago. When it was a custom of many chinese women to resort to foot binding. The earliest mention of foot binding in Chinese history may date to the 21st century B.C., when the founder of the Xia dynasty was said to have married a "fox fairy with tiny feet."

Yet in our society, women with small feet, are not the norm. I have found that the average size shoe of women living in the United States is 8 to 8.5, so where does that leave us? Usually with limited choices. That is until now.

Although I haven't highlighted hundreds of shoes here, I have provided several outlets for you to view more. Not knowing what your specific needs are, I have chosen the most popular products in our size.

Measure Your Feet



Your feet change during your lifetime. To make sure that you get the best possible fit and comfort, follow the simple directions below.

How to measure your feet

Place a piece of blank paper on a hard floor.

Stand on the paper wearing a sock of medium thickness.

Holding a pencil vertically, place a mark at the end of your heel.

Place another mark at the tip of your longest toe.

To find your size, measure the heel-to-toe mark and use the inch-to-size table.

If your measurements are between two sizes, or you find one foot's measurement larger than the other, always move up to the larger size.
