And I'm going to share all of them on this lens. For my sake too. Some of them I haven't taken off the shelf in years. It's like having my own bookstore.
Just don't tell my husband that I said that... the part about not having taken them off the shelf in years. That will be our secret!

I write about shopping every day, so this book... I didn't even have to think about. Just love the little stories. I didn't know that this book was even in the works! I had read the first book a couple of years ago (The Summerhouse) and really enjoyed it so when I spotted RETURN TO SUMMERHOUSE, I just had to have it... and it did not disappoint. NOT EVEN CLOSE... If you like time travel... you are going to love this. But there is a twist with this book. Not just one person is sent back in time... three friends are sent back together. I hated to see it end... it's that good!

The Good Guy by Dean Koontz
The Good Guy
Amazon Price: $7.99 (as of 12/26/2009)![]()
I'm about half way through this book and I just can't put it down. I haven't read anything by Dean Koontz in a while, but I think that I will be checking out what else he has written over the past few years, the minute I finish this one. Definitely worth checking out if you are looking for that summer read!
Finished... and it was great. Just hope that the bad guy wasn't based on anyone that actually exists! Scary thought...
How I Got Started...
Actually, this is my second time around. I have pretty much been collecting books all of my life, but a fire in the early 70s pretty much wiped out my collection. I think that hurt more than my album collection. But, I have to admit, starting all over again has had its perks. No one can ever say that I have left a bookstore without buying something... even if it's from the bargain bin.Speaking of which... here's something else that I would like to point out to you. Always, always check the bargain section first. It used to annoy me to no end to spot a book slashed 50% when I had paid full price a year or so earlier.

All About Victoria Holt
I discovered Victoria Holt back in my highschool days thanks to a girl who took the same bus as me. With my first book, I was hooked. She also writes as Jean Plaidy, and Philippa Car.
She is one amazing writer who never got enough recognition in my opinion!
Everyday Traditions
Everyday Traditions: Simple Family Rituals for Connection and Comfort
Amazon Price: (as of 12/26/2009)![]()
Another great book that I don't take off the shelf half enough. But because of this lens, I'm taking a look at what I have collected and I'm falling in love with my books all over again.
This one offers rituals set in the kitchen and around the dinner table.
Chapter Two offers reading rituals and bedtime rituals for a good night.
Chapter Three offers rituals for family celebrations. (I especially like this one)
Chapter Four offers rituals for specific seasons. The minute that I am finished with this post, I'm checking out the spring rituals.
Chapter Five is all about friendship rituals.
Chapter Six offers pages so that you can pencil in your own family traditions... and chances are very good that you will have some that will never be written up in a book... like my little sister's MAD CUP tradition.
A great little book. No family can have too many rituals in my opinion. It makes for great memories!!
Love, Loss and What I Wore
Love, Loss, and What I Wore

This is a great book that I found on a bookshelf in a hotel where we were staying. (What a great idea to offer reading material for their guests. ) Anyway, I thumbed through it and then knew that I wanted it for my collection. So, I rushed out to the closest Barnes & Noble and bought a book that I could leave on the shelf in its place.
Ilene starts out in 1940, describing her Brownie uniform and takes you up to the 1990s when her first granddaughter is born. Throughout the book are tons of little anecdotes that will make you feel as if you are part of her family!!

Everyday Innovations Booksling Pen Holder And Bookmark, Cranberry (BS-Cranberry)
Amazon Price: $5.00 (as of 12/26/2009)![]()
I don't know if I mentioned it before but I have a tendency to start reading a book and when I get to a bit I might want to remember, I will stick in a bookmark. So, I thought that I would highlight one this morning. And this one even features a spot for a pen. I also have a tendency to make little notes and stick them inside a book as well.
Now that could be dangerous in the future. Heaven only knows what I have written down over the years. Someone inheriting my collection will definitely be wondering what was happening in my head when they begin perusing my collection.

Books By Philippa Car
What I particularly love about this series is that every daughter in each generation carrys on the tradition of keeping a journal that gets passed down to her daughter and then granddaughter. Can you imagine what it would be like to be able to read the diary of your great-great grandmother.
Absolutely fascinating series! And yes, each book can stand on its own!

- You collect books? I am constantly trying to give mine away! I have far too many and more just appear of their own volition. I loved Jean Plaidy all through the 60s, my mother introduced me, and to Victoria Holt as well. We never knew she was the same woman. 5* for making me remember earlier days and the innocent books we read then.

- The Ladies Room Reader sounds like a fun book to read. I love reading (and writing) humor. My humorous mystery, My Mother's Shoes, will be out in Aug/Sept. Have you read Fearless Fourteen yet? The reviews haven't been that good, but when I read Janet E., its for fun, not the plot.
Rambling--sorry.
5*
