Yes these softwares are mainly created by open source community for helping out people to get softwares which are cheap or free and due to their source codes open for all, users can modify the original source code of the software and customise it for their speicif use. obviously you need to know coding for that but still due to continous deveopemonet and improvement these softwares have come to postion were they are as capable as the paid softwares .
