Writer which is equivalent to Microsoft Word. This is a word processor - desktop publisher. With writer you can save the file as a PDF file and have it open in Adobe Reader right from your document. Like Word this has autocorrect for spelling, text frames, and can email from the program itself.

Calc is the same as Microsoft Excel. It features the same as excel does from Microsoft. This spreadsheet has some features that are not available in Excel, and again this can be exported to a PDF file without using and buying extra programs. Like Excel you can do charts, tables, use complex formulas, which are built in. Both programs have templates, different styles and backgrounds.

Draw You can draw flowcharts, and many different designs. This can be used for desktop publishing it is similar to Microsoft Publisher. You are able to import different file types of photos. And with Draw, you can create a Flash version. They do have a gallery of clipart that you can choose from.

Impress is for multimedia presentations similar to PowerPoint. Again, you can create PDF files, and you can download templates from the internet to use with this program. The Impress program will create 3D images and you can import .wav files for background sounds. This program also allows you to build a Flash presentation.

Math -This program is a little complicated. With this program you can create math problems, and save as a photo and insert into cal or impress. It does math problems for you, but mostly its for writing the programs for other programs.

Base - This will replace Microsoft Access. You can create databases with this software, and run reports from the databases. With Bas you can sort simple or complex columns. Do queries, and create reports from the database tables. It has wizards that will walk you through setting up queries, and table data just like Access does.
