Assemble a Pencil Case Kit for a Child for the Price of Two Coffees

You are invited to get your family, friends, clubs and church groups involved and put together Pencil Case Kits as part of Operation Blessing's Pencil Case Kit project.

Building Exitement & Confidence

Crossing the dirt floor, a child approached the makeshift desk and proudly showed the teacher a filled pencil case. A caring stranger had sent essential school supplies including pencils, crayons, glue stick, and scissors. The excited student was ready to begin the new school year!

Whether 1 child or 100, you can equip children with the confidence they need to walk into the classroom on the first day of school, by sending a Pencil Case Kit.

Price of Confidence
The estimated cost of putting one pencil case kit together is $6 USD, or about the price of two specialty coffee drinks.

This seems to be a small price to pay for a to child walk confidently into school.

How to Put a Pencil Case Together

Help a Child Go Back to School

Send a disadvantaged child back to the classroom with his or her own Pencil Case Kit. The kit is a small collection of basic supplies you put together and send to Operation Blessing for distribution to children in need.

The estimated cost to assemble one pencil case kit is approximately $6 USD, the price of two specialty coffee drinks. (Plus shipping)

1. Purchase the following items:
    1 pencil case (transparent)
1 pack of crayons (8 colors)
1 pack of color pencils (12 colors)
    1 pack of #2 pencils (5 pencils)
1 pack of glue sticks (2 glue sticks)
    1 pack of erasers
1 pair of scissors (child friendly)
    1 pencil sharpener

2. Place all items neatly into the pencil case.

3. Complete the form available on their website or at this link.
Print form and enclose it in an envelope with $4 to help cover the cost of shipping and handling. Send checks or money orders only.

Do not place envelope inside pencil case.

If you are sending in more than one pencil case kit, you only need to complete one form and one check or money order for the total amount (i.e. send in five kits = $20 for shipping and handling).

4. Mail pencil case kit and envelope to:

A Good Way to Teach Children to Give Back

Teaching Your Child about Charity Work

My own daughter's (7 and 5) will be starting back to school next week. I realized that this is a great project for them to learn how to give back to other children, because it is something that they can relate to.

I will be helping my girls to assemble several Pencil Case Kits for Operation Blessing and getting them in the mail this weekend.

Pencil Case Kits for less than $6.00 - That Was Easy

Shopping Back to School Sales Reduces Costs

With a bit of careful shopping and comparing prices I purchased all of the eight items at Staples and Walmart. Both stores offered some excellent prices.

I took advantage of the lower prices on Back to School items, so was able to price our Pencil Case Kits at a little less than $6.00 (about 5.30).

I am hoping to send out at least 6 - 8 Pencil Case Kits by this weekend. I will keep you posted.

Updates on Our Giving Efforts

10 Pencil Case Kits - Mailed off to a Good Cause

This week, with the the help of my two daughters, we assembled 10 Pencil Case Kits and shipped them off to Operation Blessing.

Both girls helped in putting together the kits. My youngest happily assembled the kits "for the children in Africa, so they will have nice stuff." She also said that she was glad that she has a mom that lets them do stuff like this.

These entirely non-prompted remark is a good reminder for me that when I wonder if I am doing a good job raising my girls, I can answer that I am.

FYI: The shipping costs by USPS was a bit more than I'd anticipated (I should have used a specific postal box), but I figure it was for a good cause.

More than 50,000 Children Helped Last Year

Scope of Operation Blessing's Outreach Programs

There are countless numbers of parents in the United States as well as in developing countries struggling to provide basic shelter, food, and clothing.

They are often unable to purchase both the required uniforms and needed supplies for their school-aged children.

Last year, through Operation Blessing's outreach programs for children more than 53,400 school-aged children received clothes and school supplies around the world.
