There are a lot of misconceptions about the paid survey program and the most common one is that they are all scams. This is not true there are a lot of legit sites that pay you cash or rewards for your participation (some more then others) of cause there are lots of scams to but you can protect yourself if you follow a few basic rules.

Rule#1: Never use your primary email account to join these sites there are plenty of free web based email accounts and I recommend and use Yahoo mail with address guard. This will help protect you from spam

Rule#2: Always research the company before you sign up check with the Better Business Bureau and check out what other people have to say about them at forums. This will help you protect your identity and avoid being a victim phishing or identity theft

Rule#3: Read their FAQ, privacy policies, terms and conditions to understand exactly what you are signing up for. This will help you avoid singing up for something you were not aware of like subscribing to 3rd party mailing list or agreeing to have your personal information sold

If you follow these 3 rules you have gone a long way in protecting your self and avoiding the scams.

Paid surveys are market research conducted by almost all businesses this is how they determine what the consumer would want. It is a legitimate tool that nearly all businesses use and it helps to shape the market place with products that are wanted.

Companies are willing to pay for this information and this is where you can profit as well as have a say in the products they will release.

Survey sites are engaged by businesses wishing to find out facts and statistics about a targeted audience and the survey site will pass it on to their members that meet the requirements of the study.

A good survey site will protect your personal information you can determine this from their privacy policies so make sure you read them very carefully.

You need to understand that not all payed survey sites are the same some pay money others give you entry into competitions and at least one I know of rewards you with lollies.

Every site has there own method of rewarding your participation so it is very important to follow Rule#3 so you know exactly what to expect from them and what they expect of you.

Demographics are the major factors in allocating surveys to individuals this will include your age, sex, location, ethnically, financial affairs and hobbies the more personal information they have about you the more chance they can match appropriate surveys to you. It is always good practise to keep this information updated to insure you get the most possible invites to surveys.

When you sign up you usually fill in a profile form with basic information about you and your household some are short others are very extensive. You will also be given or asked to choice a user-name and password so you can log-in to your account were you can change details such as your email address and password or request payments.

Receiving your reward/payment will very from site to site but usually the 3 preferred methods are checks, PayPal, and direct deposit to your bank account.

Some other ways you may receive your reward/payment is redeeming your points for online vouches, gift vouches, items from a catalogue or reward partner. Every site has it own unique way to distribute the rewards to participants.

If you are unsure about a site you are thinking of joining then I suggest you visit a few forums and see what other people are saying about them or check them out at the Better Business Bureau.

Factors affecting your earnings

Demographics are the major factors that will determine how many on line surveys you receive as they are generally targeted to a specific group of people. I.e.: a company wants to find out what brand and how much beer men between the ages of 20 to 40 drink on an average day. (Well they are not going to send this to female, non drinkers or people not in that age group)

The best way to make sure you qualify for the most possible survey invites is to keep your profile up to date and with accurate information including your sex, age, location, ethnicity, and family structure. The more information they have about you the more likely you will get surveys.

Making the Most of Payed Surveys

The best way to make the most money from paid surveys is to use their referral programs by inviting friends and family to join under you in some cases you will make more money this way then by doing the surveys. Most survey sites have a referral program where you will get paid for referring other people. Some sites will give you a one time payment for each referral that joins other sites you can earn a commission from their earnings.

This is fine for pocket money but if you really want to make money from doing surveys then you need to start a monetized blog or website and become an affiliate marketing people to sign up with different paid survey sites that's were the real money will come from but that require lots of work and time to set up and you will have to learn about Internet marketing I know this because i have been doing this myself now for over two years but I am glad I stuck with it as it has taught me enough about Internet marketing to start many other blogs and websites.
