The Unauthorized Biography of Oprah Winfrey ~ Kitty Kelley Strikes Again

O, Oprah! Author Kitty Kelley wrote another biographical book, an unauthorized biography of Oprah Winfrey, which was released on April 13, 2010 and which generated plenty of discussion and controversy about Oprah Winfrey's "hidden life."

Kitty Kelley spent three years and 800-plus interviews gathering information for this book, but her writing tends to ignite controversy no matter who's in the spotlight (Nancy Reagan, Jackie Onassis, the British Royal family and Elizabeth Taylor are a few of her previous subjects).

I think from Oprah's perspective maybe she has reached the stage in her life where she does not want to fight with anyone as we see in this case. it could be to the point of understanding, unfortunately , that is the life of a celebrity. Things would be said be it negative or positive. Remember Oprah is no fool. Whether the allegations made in that biography are true or not. Oprah will not react because if she did then it would just go against all what she has been teaching and demonstrating on her show. Think about it!

I know who Kitty Kelley is but have never read one of her books.
I'd be afraid to write a "tell all" unauthorized book about anyone if the truth was stretched or outright lies told. Who'd want to take Oprah on in court??
As for Oprah, I imagine she has many parts of her life she protects.
Being an icon leaves little room for privacy unless a person really works at it.

Lolly, you touch on an interesting point for, I watched a video that said Oprah has not taken anyone to court regarding this book...if that is true, then is that denial a way of admitting that the book is mostly factual or is that just a case of Oprah hoping that as she has been heard to say "it will go away." No doubt, it goes away faster if she doesn't take it to court.

Hiya Brenda, another message ~ I just read this ~ http://www.achievement.org/autodoc/page/win0bio-1 ~ and to tell the truth I'm sure I'd read it, or heard it from Oprah herself before. Some of it still gives me goose-bumps. I don't think any of it was ever a secret. Born somewhat earlier, and having stuck my nose into a lot peoples' personal history via their genealogy, I know all the more how common it was for kids to get "birthed" a little ahead of schedule. When you look at records in the 19th century, and even more so in earlier centuries, it was very common to see marriages AFTER children were born. I think this just speaks to the ever-present appetites of young people. I came from a time when people were hiding this stuff. I think that a lot of illusions about life were born somewhere along the line. The saddest thing in all this is that there is a long, long history of exploitation of children, youths and the dis-advantaged. Fortunately there are people like Oprah who, with dignity, drag this out of the closet.
