OptionsHouse 2.0 - Should They Be YOUR Next Broker?
If you're shopping around for a new discount broker, you might have considered OptionsHouse. Since they've recently received several awards from the likes of broker review sources such as Barron's, they've become a huge hit with bargain hunting stock and options traders.
In this lens, hopefully I can give you a good understanding of what's on offer @ OptionsHouse, and whether or not their platform and service suits your trading and investing needs. So, without further ado let's get started!

Account Fees & Commissions
Stocks - These come at a flat rate of $3.95.
Options - If you choose the "Up to 5" plan, the rate is just $5 for the first 5 contracts and $1 for each additional contract. You also have the options to select the "Over 5" option which offers you the rate of $8.50 plus an additional 0.15 cents for each contract. If you're a high volume trader, you'll save more with the "Over 5" plan.
Spreads - Up to 10 comes for $10 plus $1 for every contract above 10 or you could pay $12.50 plus 0.15 cents for each contract.
Mutual Funds - Available at a rate of $9.95.
Administrative Fees
AKA "The Hidden Fees"
Before you sign up anywhere, it's always a good idea to look into what I call the "hidden" or "surprise we're taking your money" fees. So here they are...

Saturday delivery checks: $25

Overall, pretty standard fees when compared to most brokers, but always good to be aware of nonetheless.

-There are no inactivity fees, maintenance or volume requirements
-Users are offered check writing privileges for free and are not charged for virtual trading
-Extended hours of trading and bulk orders do not carry any extra surcharge
-Reduced margin rates as well as facilities for one on one coaching for the clients at a reasonable rate
Cons
-There are no eligible options for the stocks that are priced $2.00 or lower.
-International investors are not allowed
-Extended hours of trading are shortened. 8.30 am to 9.30 am and 4.00 pm to 5.00 pm Eastern Time.
