What Is The Official Michael Jackson Opus?

The Official Michael Jackson Opus is a magnificent book and collector's item dedicated to the life of the late Michael Jackson. Released on December 7, 2009, it features more than 300 pages of pictures that have never been seen before displayed with essays written by the friends and family of Michael Jackson. It is the only such publication that was authorized by Michael Jackson's estate and by Jackson himself.

Michael Jackson worked on this project just days before he died. He wanted to tell his story in a way that it has never been told, to make the definitive book. and in order to pull together such a massive project, Opus Media employed an unprecedented 20 people full time.

The CEO of Opus Media said, "We were delighted to be working with Michael Jackson on a project that was very dear to his heart. Sadly, his untimely death means that instead this special Official Opus will become a lasting tribute to his legacy as the King of Pop." Contrary to rumours, there was only one version of this book made. No book will contain the fold out spread shown here because the editors thought it focused too much on Jackson's death and The Michael Jackson Opus was intended to be a celebration of Jackson's life.

According to The Telegraph, the first five copies of this book (autographed by celebrities like Liz Taylor, Diana Ross, Barbra Streisand, Quincy Jones and P Diddy) were expected to be auctioned with the proceeds going to Michael Jackson's charity interests.

The Official Michael Jackson Opus is sold out on the official site. However, it is still available from some sellers on eBay and Amazon.com.
