They should go together, but black is too obvious

Why orange and black, anyway?

Here's what Wikipedia has to say about it:

"The colours black and orange are associated with the celebrations,[19] perhaps because of the darkness of night and the colour of fire, autumn leaves or pumpkins."

Years ago I had a black cat and wanted another. I was told to call a lady who did an at home shelter. It was October 26 and she wouldn't give any black cats out until after November 1, she was angry with me at first, but calmed down when she knew I wasn't looking for a decoration. She also said something that I used after i got my orange cat. I always kept them both indoors the week before Halloween

Yeah, I never even thought about that. People are so crazy - like getting dalmations for Christmas and chicks for Easter and then not properly caring for them or just dumping them off. Ugh!!

When the weather is good, we get about 40 kids coming to the door for Halloween. It used to be over 60 though. I don't know if less kids go out now, or if the demographics are different in the larger neighborhood area now. I've always enjoyed handing out goodies on Halloween!

That's cool that you get that many, though! We sometimes don't get any at all. All the kids in town that trick-or-treat go to North Oaks (neighborhood next to ours) or Eagle's Landing - neighborhood about 4 miles away.

I always enjoyed it, too. Ah well...

I need to find a way to jazz up our halloween this year - we live in such an UNhalloweeny area, no trick or treaters, no houses with lights on, it's totally blah!
  • Lisa-Marie-Mary Sep 26, 2010 @ 5:04 pm | delete
My immediate area is not all that great, too. I think we have a lot of retirees/older people on our block. The neighborhood next to us is AWESOME!!!!

We've always tried to do our house up way festive and all, but, the last few years - so much of our time is spent at the marching band haunted forest that it can be really hard.
